Hello,

I have noticed a distinct absence of some of the more 'mainstream' prog-metal bands here - which is a good thing as I can't stand most of them - however, two artists I believe would be good for inclusion into this wee channel are:

Devin Townsend - Brilliant production, stylistically 'prog-metal crossed with ambience' in nature - would, for the most part sit well with those who aren't big prog-metallers as his material, whilst having some metal guitar, does incorperate alot of other styles into his music

Opeth - Opeth are a prog band with guitarists who mix classical electric guitar playing with metal styles and death metal vocals, thus most of their materials would be unsuitable for here ACCEPT their album deliverence, which is a prog (in the older vein of the word) album (ie mellotron usage etc....) - of which one of the tracks was composed by none other than Steven Wilson....

I have 4 Devin Townsend albums that would be, I believe, suitable for this station and the Opeth album Delieverance - how would one get these on the station????

Ciao
Michael

Don't personally know anything about Opeth, but I have one Inside/Out sampler that has The Devin Townshend Band on it. The song is "Storm" and it may be the best song on the sampler, even over TFK's "Monkey Business" and the cuts from Jelly Jam and Spock's Goatee. And no, it's not a cover of GYBE!'s "Storm" in case you were wondering  :D

Opeth's Damnation is great and suitable.....if the others are like what I heard on Gnosis.....Jim will have a fit:D

Devin - Funny cause Vai is playing as we speak.....I think he ruined Vai's "Sex and Religion" with his vocals....but that's me I guess.

Oh ok - yeah i haven't heard that album of steve vai's yet but I know it was devy's big break - it was done around 1990 and even in the Devy few albums I have (which span about 7 years) his vocals have changed - I consider him the second best vocalist in the world behind Mike Pattern.....

Kool - I msg'd Prog Dir Jim about that

PS Malmstein is crazy
