If I hadn't just requested King Crimson, I'd request Rush right now. I think I might do an all-Rush show and dedicate it to you. :D.

I thought I remembered you, and re-read your old posts on Rush. The issue is, Sod, I cannot take you seriously. You have only posted on two threads, very far apart, and not on any other topic.
Regardless of musical preference, you are obviously a music flamer. If you want to have a dialogue, that's cool. but I think you're a flamer.
I will be doing a Rush show soon enough. I hope you can listen.
See you around on a more interesting topic....but somehow I doubt it.

Flamer? Nope. If I was a flamer, that would mean I didn't sincerely despise RUSH and now a bad imitation, disEnchant.
Look, to my ear , this stuff blows. Lousy. Stinks. Now don't feel bad, I hate most opera as well.
But I also like hundreds of artists. So it's not just me.
Can I get any backup here, or am I the only one that thinks these groups are vasty and profoundly overrated?:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

I notice none of you defended Enchant, only made reference to RUSH.
Maybe you also think they stink then?
lol  :D :o :)

The first tune on "Juggling 9" (Paint the Picture) by Enchant is a ringer for "Xanadu"'s theme.
Otherwise the comparisons are few. The only comparison is you don't like them.
You don't need backup. You just don't like them. I just don't see the point in a thread that says so.
Oh well, I'm getting caught up in it, aren't I?
See you around.
P.S. Saw your other post - You know what I like from my show. I think I played an Enchant tune once...what I like really isn't important here, though. You like what you like. Have fun, I gotta go....

apparently, it is just you.
I think Rush is great, and they will not be removed.
Enchant I'm more lukewarm on, but I think they're a very good band, and there's enough progressive elements to them. I would welcome dialogue on them, but that's not your point, is it?

If you're interested in having your opinion considered, why don't you start by telling us what you DO like?

I don't think any real purpose would be served by listing the groups / artists / musical styles I like. How would that change the fact that I dislike groups like RUSH, et al ?
Obviously , they have thier fans. So does every kind of 'music' from the sublime to the ridiculous. Again, a pointless distinction.
I do notice more 'noise' creeping into the genre of prog on the radio, probably because there is only a limited amount of the good stuff, not enough new, and you are needing to keep the playlist fresh.
No problem, I have thousands of mps socked away, so it's a short hop to something that I can enjoy.

Now that's just asinine. You're not paying attention. We've added more than 39 CDs to the playlist in January 2005. (So far - 10 or so more coming in the next 2-3 days.) Music that was released anywhere between the early 70's to 2005, and covering a wide variety of styles. On the average, half of what we add has been released within the last two years - easily 100 CDs released within the last 2 years.
You've picked two bands to insult, and you're certainly entitled to your opinion. And I'm not trying to change your opinion, because, frankly, I don't care. Until you talk a little about what you do like, I have no idea where you're coming from and can't concern myself with what I see as simple negativity.

Is your name "Robin", Sod? Cuz man you remind me of this guy on another forum I participate in who goes on and on about why the music HE likes is good, and what he DOESN'T like it trash. Forum threads started by Robin include:
"Jazz is awful, plain and simple. Bach is the true musical genius."
"Why does jazz get so much credit? Its a joke."
Mind you, he posted this on a JAZZ FORUM. Hmmmm, wonder if he is trying to instigate anything?
Ok, I'll do it...I'll take one for team....*sigh*...
RUSH SUCKS!!!
Now, will you go away Sod? Thank you.
NINO
PS: Rush rules!
Oh snap I ruined it. :(

Noise like Queensryche , Lana Lane, almost all the hair bands, they all stink. What's the big deal, there are plenty of folks with tin ears that love that stuff. I'm only pointing out that it blows. Kinda like a public service.
Every notice that even when something stinks to high heaven, there are many that think it doesn't. Just shows to go ya.

Right on! That's what I do when 2 seconds of RUSH emits from my speakers. I click through.....
Anyone have an automated program that will switch stations when a particularly loathsome name appears? TIA

Just heard some dreck and when I looked to see what/who it was , lo and behold , yep, RUSH.
Now *maybe* RUSH has something in thier book that doesn't stink to high heaven, but it doesn't get played. That's a best case scenario.
C'mon guys, you must all think they blow as much as I do, but you're just putting me on. Good joke, ya got me.

You have to be one of the most ridiculous people I've ever had the misfortune to meet.
Not only that you must be one of the saddest as well. Why post all these negative things when Aural moon is one of the most positive places on Earth.
OK....I'll go further. This Old Sod is getting cheesed off with that OldSod and feel he should go the way of the FK over requester.
But that's just my opinion.

OldSod...I can't stand Rush either, but why use up so much space and time complaining about it.
Frankly, I find your posts amusing in a sort of tabloidish way.
You're obviously enjoying yourself thoroughly.

Why doesn't someone give me the name of the BEST thing Rush has done. I'll listen to it. Maybe I am only hearing the garbage. Ok, OldSod, any five people will have five different "best" Rush albums. That being said, I think no one would disagree with me to suggest you try "Permanent Waves" or "Moving Pictures." If you are looking for, say, ten songs to request to test, I recommend the following ten. While there may be certain favorite tracks here and there not included, these ten are universally admired.
1. La Villa Strangiato
2. Natural Science
3. Show Don't Tell
4. Mystic Rhythm
5. Xanadu
6. Driven
7. Red Barchetta
8. Subdivisions
9. Secret Touch
10. Where's My Thing?
If you request those ten songs on a Monday through Friday two weeks in a row, give them an honest chance, and still don't "get" what we love about them, then Rush isn't for you. That's okay, but give these a shot first before you forevermore write the band off.
Spaz, pulling a r.l with a quote, this being "interested to hear your reply."

Uh, in order for someone to make your point, you have to have a point originally. So far as I can tell, the only point involved in any of your posts sits nicely under your combover.
You know, it's a shame I don't have the time to monitor things as closely as I used to. I'd see when you log in, and queue up a couple of good Rush tunes for your edification.
No need to reply to this, however. I likely won't pay any attention to any dribblings you come up with.
I've got too many other important things to do with my time.
Roger -Dot- Lee, calling it quits on this one.
