Make a music theme for each day

Hello everyone,

Today, three songs by Jon Anderson were played within an hour.

That brought me to the idea that it would be nice if there was a music theme for each day (days, week?).

For example:
Each day's playlist could focus on an artist, album, genre or a time period.

It would be a great way to check out certain artists and albums.

It would also be great if us listeners could vote for an artist etc.


What do you think?

I might be opoen to the idea, but I can say that the next Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Spock's Beard or Transatlantic day won't be until 2008! Since all of the last 200 days have been one or more of the above thanks to the requests.

Seriously, though, this is something we'll consider as an occasional feature, but I can't guarantee we'll do it everyday - it takes a lot of time to DJ, and this job doesn't pay enough for me to quit my "real" job. ;)

Avian and I have talked about this in the past, so send in some ideas (and try to be creative - Italian prog day, bands with violins, etc) and maybe we'll get this going.

Okay, I'm glad you liked the idea and many thanks for taking time (from your regular work) to produce the Scandinavian theme! (That explains the over-presentation of non-English/American groups played today. Swed-English, and Swedish in particular, sounds uh.. unaccustomed:)

Why not show the current theme (if decided) on your home page?

Overplayed artists is a difficult issue. Of course, you and Avian have the final say regarding Aural Moon's musical directions. I usually listen to AM (daily) and my impression is that the main prog artist are not, in general, overplayed. I find it in accordance with the station declaration on the home page.

The most played artists seems to differ through time. Right now, someone likes Jethro Tull:) And, I have requested Ozric Tentacles' 'Fetch Me The Pongmaster' daily through this week. (I'm very impressed by the drum part. See enclosed drum chart;)

I have not made up my mind yet on whether I think some artists are overplayed or not. As of now, I like the musical mix and appreciate your efforts.
