Strawbs has some good progressive stuff from the 70's. The Hero and Heroine CD has some classic riffs.

What do the listeners say? I'm kind of 50-50 on the Strawbs - a bit folkish for my taste, but definitely some good moments. Enough interest and I'll buy some for the station. I have "Deadlines" on vinyl, but it's a later album when they were sort of trying to go commercial and not so great.

Feedback?

If you added any Strawbs and could only choose one song, I would add "New World" from Grave New World...it's pretty heavy with mellotron. I've got it if you need it. Second choices would be "Down By The Sea" or "Tears and Pavane" (both from Bursting at the Seams)

The strawbs were a great celtic roots rock band.

I would love to hear some Strawbs. Hero and Heroine may be their best album, but Nomadness is a close second.

I'd second this, "New World" is one of the most emotive prog songs I know. That mellotron is just brilliant on this track.

I think Strawbs fit into Aural Moon. Mellow is ok, but they're not all mellow. Also good but not mentioned so far is the recording "From the Witchwood", with Rick Wakeman on keys

I'd definitely go along with the Strawbs being on AM.
Hero and Heroine, Grave New World and From the Witchwood are, I think, their best albums.

Hero and Heroine is a great album. I used to play "Hero's Theme" quite often on my Instrumental radio show at Ga Southern. "Autumn" and the title track are also excellent. I've never been crazy about any of their other albums.

The Live Strawbs album "A Collection of Antiques and Curios" with Rick Wakeman of pre-Yes session fame is on "Where is the Dream of Your Youth" is a must have for this station"

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm starting with "Hero and Heroine", which I just ordered. If I like that enough, I'll buy some more for the station.

Look for it soon!
