Okay, so maybe this isn't prog, but I saw this guy warm up for Asia on their inaugural tour ('82 I believe), and I mentioned him in another thread (interesting warm up acts or something like that.
Chris Bliss, juggler extraordinaire, and he juggles to music. Check out this video:

yeah, I think he's great. another juggler got all bent out of shape about the publicity Bliss is getting, and though the other guy is a terrific juggler, he just wasn't as good. fancier tricks, more moves, but no style. Bliss rocks. :D

I saw that tour. Forgotten about him! What an amazing clip, just watched it twice...
If it was 2006, I'd go for the juggler (or the jugular)
Not sure why I ever liked Asia.....

Yeah!! I saw Chris Bliss support Asia on their first tour too. A very odd support act but not the oddest.
On the Genesis Selling England tour the support consisted of a group of peopple dressed as clowns dancing through the audience to Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells........very odd.

Thanks for that Jim.......I got exhausted just watching. Of course, I am sending the link to work so I can drive my coworkers nuts with it.
I liked the original Asia and am hopeful that the reunited originals can come up with something worth listening to.

The oddest support act I saw was Cirque du Soleil for Paul McCartney.
There was a procession through the crowd after their act that was right out of a Lucy In The Sky acid trip replete with a guy wearing a dark suit with a neon glow tie sporting an umbrella with a Granny Smith Apple floating in front of his face.

Sure that wasn't Mortis and Jam Forte?:hrm:
"Comedian" Jim Turner opened up for Adrian Belew in DC. He was horrible. His alter ego "Dick Balloonass", was not in the least funny. And when he said "now for an impression", someone stood up and yelled "Do a comedian"!
:haha:
Weirdest regular act was Squonk Opera. Riveting, though....
Grannysmith apple vax? That's some detailed memory....:vaxman:

Now I've never been much into Jugglers (who usually try more to be commedians than jugglers, overall), and I think the Beatles have been horridly overplayed. Bearing this in mind, I thought "Yawn."
But then I thought "Now wait a sec, Dot, if Jim said it's cool, maybe you should give it a look before dismissing it outright."
Let's just say I'm glad I did. Anybody who has ever read my turgid prose knows that I'm rarely at a loss for words. This one did it for me.
Thanks for the pointer, Jim. I'm gunna see if I can find a way of squirrelling it away on my hard drive next to the MOV file of the drummer doing YYZ on Lake Ontario.
