I don't know anything about this, but if it's for real, it's amazing.

sounds a lot like Satriani...

Well I can confrim that he's playing it in D - the chords are in the right place. However, the volume swells immediately after the green light aren't done with the volume knob on the guitar. That doesn't mean he doesn't have a volume pedal, which is entirely possible.

Looked right to me. I should practice.:dunno:

That was AWESOME..but too well mixed for a kid in his bedroom.
Captured on home video equipment(not famous for sound quality),
Given the bitrate of a streaming video, the sound limitations of the site,
The drums and guitar were almost perfectly leveled/mixed..
No detectable room ambience..even L/R spread...
this didn't come through a camera mic.

IMO-sequenced and pantomimed,.wav file sent DI to the
"ins" of a decent recorder, but still a damned good guitarist.

and I don't think it's a "kid". he keeps his face pretty well covered.

but thanks for the expert explanation, k. :D

Hey RG-
You may be right. Yeah, usually I hear these .avi files through
the mackie 824s, it's like SHZZZZZZZ at the beginning until
the music begins, drowns it out. This was too pristine.
That, and all the other parts had to be coming from a sequencer.

It was still a great performance, whether it was live or Memorex.;)

yeah, if that's air guitar, he's damn good!!

Well crap...now i'm trying to figure out how he could've pulled this off.

I'm certain it's not air guitar, miming someone else's piece.
As Moses said, it looks right, he's in key, but I can guarantee,
this didn't come through the camera's built-in mic.

The beginning had to be a sample, so he's using a sequencer.
The drums and bass are pre-recorded, so ditto.
The only part not sequenced would be the main guitar.
There IS a second guitar part noticable from about the 3:05, and
he's not using a doubler.
I don't think he's going DI using an amp sim, and not a hint of a mixer..
you can't see the cord hanging..
'Tell you what- I'll send this to Steve Hall, get his opinion
on the playing. I have to go watch Bill Maher in a few.

from Steve-

My guess is that he's miming to his own recording. The sound quality is far too good and this has been pre-recorded. What's my prize if I'm right?

Geez, I don't know as much as Kirk, but that is seriously overdubbed. that being said, the "kid" is pretty good, and I suspect, working on playing it "live" I'll bet a fairly large sum of money that if you heard this person playing it live you'd be less impressed. But, I'd also bet that he's pretty damn good...
