That's great, but..Is it "prog"? LOL!

If you guys like this, check out the "Tranquility" demo for Mac-
http://www.apple.com/games/articles/2001/04/tranquility/

For PC- (better screenshots)

As games go, it's not the most exciting, but you'll feel yourself
being pulled in after awhile.

On a slightly unrelated topic, although a lot more prog related, any of you play the Mike Oldfield games...Tres Lunas and Maestro?

They're sort of trippy, adventure games, where you fly your avatars through various scenes, with no real objective in mind, all the while chilling to recent Oldfield music.

I sort of got into them both, but then lost interest.

I "played" Tres Lunas' demo. It sucked, IMHO. I could never figure out the objective, and there was supposed to be some sort of objective because there are screen shots I saw that I couldn't get to.

I hope this doesn't get a "Flame" session going here but..........

Has Mike Oldfiled released anything of REAL worth and (more to the point) originality!!!! since Incantations (which I think is a masterpiece!!)????????????

Over to you Moonbuds/buddettes.

The demo didn't have any objective. The actual game, it was mostly about flying around, but for those objective-minded there was something about collecting six rings or something like that.

Oh, KW, you make me cry`-(( I'll chalk it up to generational type things: you like the stuff you heard come out at the time, and you got out when Oldfield did the whole pop song thing. Well, I'm not sure how you define "REAL worth," but here's something to look into.

First of all, Amarok is immaculate (sp?). For my money, the best of all the Tubular Bells albums is 1992's Tubular Bells 2, which, unfortunately, is on AM in piecemeal instead of 30:00 and 28:00 halves. Tubular Bells 3 is pretty good, but definitely different. It's got a whole electronica dance vibe to it.

As for individual pieces that are amazing, since Incantations, are the side-long pieces he did. Request "The Wind Chimes, Parts One and Two" from Islands. It's very good. The Taurus series is really good as well, and from the late 70s at that.

These days, Oldy is in an instrumental vibe, but shorter pieces. Guitars, Tres Lunas, and Light + Shade are all worthwhile, if not classic, with pieces ranging from 2 minutes to just over 10.

I guess I don't need to tell you the best way to see is to request Oldy you don't know.

Spaz out.

As to Roger's original post here, var 13 sounds most prog-like while 12 sounds like experimental fusion..
and I was starting to have flashbacks!

As far as Roger's orginal post - it's definitely cool, and it's musical, but it's not MUSIC. That's my take anyway...
