Let me start by saying that I rarely requested The Lamb album sides when they were (briefly) available on AM. For months prior I had hoped that the Lamb would be posted on AM's list, and I had optimistically (and I thought unrealistically) hoped for full album sides. When it happened I couldn't believe it. Then people requested them over and over again, and I for one, enjoyed every play. Then they were suddenly gone -- something about request abuse...
Well now The Lamb is way under-represented on the "What's playing now" AM list. Yes, I know I can listen to any of my several copies whenever I want, but that's not the point. The issue is it truly belongs in the mix (I consider it a top five of all time in prog rock, and I know many AM listeners do too). It's much too painful to hear it chopped up into individual song bites w no follow-through, and maybe that's why the individual songs are not requested very much. Let's face it, the wonderful element of a surprise album side, and the fact that we can enjoy them at the office when we don't have our CD's w us are key considerations here.
I'd be willing to settle for availability of the full sides on weekends and late nights only, when based on my zero delay time for requests I suspect I must be the only one listening to AM. In fairness to whoever the frequent Lamb requestors were, it was truly an innovative thing to have full album sides there for the asking (they were rarely played that way on FM radio back in '75), so I was never surprised that initially it was the most requested album on AM. Even those who complained have to admit that something has been lost here...
Please bring them back. Please...:)
