There are a lot of good covers of songs out there.
One that springs to mind is Glass Hammers cover of "South side of the Sky".
Any others you can think of that would sound good if they were ever to be done?
I'll set the ball rolling with:
Dream Theater covering John Cage's 4' 33" - It would be the best thing they ever did. ;)

Certainly not the musicians of ProgDay covering I Know What I Like because I've heard it, and I know what I don't like!

Man were they ever drunk on that. You get a crazy Italian or two and and a bunch of loaded proggers....and the atmosphere all conspired and perspired for a lousy song...well said...Echolyn at Prog Day slogged through some amusing Sabbath covers too.
John Galgano at the Rosfest party also performed a regrettable version of side 1 of Misplaced Childhood, then redeemed himself at the Proghouse with the Giant and Genesis songs:iheartyou
I can't tell you what I want to hear but I can tell you my favorite take is Mike Keneally doing "Time Table" off of the Katrina record. And the worst is that horrible ELP tribute record...
Marillion covering a Britney Spears song.
No wait, that's been done.

How about Derek W. Dick performing the Bay City Rollers, Saturday Night?
I can hear it now...
S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night
S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night
S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night
S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night
Gonna keep on dancin' to the rock and roll
On Saturday night, Saturday night
Dancin' to the rhythm in our heart and soul
On Saturday Night, Saturday night
I-I-I-I, I just can't wait
I-I-I-I, I got a date

I'd like to see Genisis do the theme from the Monkees. It's right up Phil's alley!

California Guitar Trio does a lot of covers live. They are also supposed to be coming out with a 'covers' album.
Echoes, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Tubular Bells are excellent live.

The Musical Box does do old Genesis and they do it as a reenactment of actual Genesis shows. I've seen TMB do Foxtrot, SEBTP and TLLDOB. All were very good.

I've seen CGT live a couple of times. I've seen them cover Heart of the Sunrise and Bohemian Rhapsody -- Very nice arrangements of each too.
I wonder what they do for the 10 mins of space noise in the middle of Echoes.

my two favorite CGT moments were "Classical Gas", and the "Good/Bad/Ugly" theme at Jaxx's in VA.

I heard Classical Gas too...
Good/Bad/Ugly theme? The Clink Eastwood spaghetti western? It's been years (decades) since I've seen that and don't recall what the theme is.

The Beatles White Album covered as a Prog Project of various artists. Some titles have been done, but loved to see the whole thing done.
