I've been thinking about asking this for a while now. Since I've been getting into the whole Quebec prog scene, I've found quite a few bands who only had 1 or 2 albums. Most of them are pretty obscure, so it got me to thinking: how many other great bands are out there who only had 1 or 2 albums?

Ground rules:

1) One or two studio albums. Live albums are extra, IMHO.
2) Band needs to be done. Naming a band that just put out their first album defeats the spirit of the thread.

have fun and thanks!

As far as I know, the Turkish band Siddhartha (on the Moon) just made on album (which is out of print) and never appeared again

Well, not necessarily all prog, but some great one hit wonders in my eyes are:

Dryve - Thrifty Mr. Kickstar
Chasing Furies - With Abandon
Bellador - The Day's Intent
Chris Squire - Fish Out of Water :D

Autumn - Oceanworld - which was playing when we discussed this in shout
Canarios - Ciclos
Lift - Caverns Of Your Brain
Kalaban - Don't Panic and Resistance Is Useless
Fireballet - Night On Bald Mountain and Two, Too (one of the worst covers ever)
Mirthrandir - For You The Old Women
Yezda Urfa - Boris and Sacred Baboon

I'm sure I'll think of lots more...

anyone who hangs out in the shoutbox knows that one of my favorite unknown bands is Il Berlione. they made 2 albums and vanished. can't say enough good things about them.

Sloche only had 2 albums
Opus 5 had one
Pollen had one
Anglagard only had 2 studio albums
Bacamarte just had the 1 album, I'm pretty sure
Dun just had one album

I thought I had more when I was thinking about this before. I'll have to post later if I remember who they were.

Sorry, Kazuhiro, I do not think that Maneige, Harmonium, Miriodor or Visible Wind count as "bands who only had 1 or 2 albums".

Maybe you understood that lamour was looking for Canadian bands? :dunno:

Since I've been getting into the whole Quebec prog scene,

lamour, have you checked out CANO?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CANO

Hard to find "Eclipse" on CD, but it was the best of their releases, imho.

CANO were indeed very good mossy.

They were a breath of fresh air on the music scene back then.

Unfortunately, one of the leaders of the group, singer and songwriter André Paiement (Rachel's brother) commited suicide after the group's 2nd album, and even though they tried to continue, they never found that touch and after a few albums, they faded away. On Eclipse (3rd album) you can hear André's last contributions to the group. It must have been a very hard album to realize for the group.

Anyways, thanks for reminding me about them. I'll listen to their first 2 albums tonight when I get home and be nostalgic for a while ;-)

Rendezvous was the last recording I owned by them, marq. The first two I have on CD, and Eclipse on vinyl (which I left in Vancouver with a friend who moved and lost the box etc) I don't believe Eclipse was ever released on CD, but I found a website with a reasonable download fee for it recently. It's in my "top five of all time" so it's time to pay the fee methinks. Happy listening..

I copied and contributed the review of the site that I trusted for the name of the band that I had quoted. I have given the trouble to the person who manages the site. It is the same as giving the trouble also to people who take delight in music it in this place.

I should apologize to people.

I do the effort to receive people purely to take delight in music in the future.
