A few ideas:

1) Nektar/A Tab in the Ocean/A Tab in the Ocean.
2) Miles Davis/A Tribute to Jack Johnson/Right Off.
3) Manfred Mann's Earth Band/The Good Earth/Give me the Good Earth.

I have always liked Nektar and think this is their best album. It's nice to hear some of their stuff on AM from time to time.

I Wasn't sure about the Miles Davis but I thought I'd give it a go as we have Chick Corea and Return to Forever on the station and they're about as "Fusion" as you can get and Miles, having almost invented the genre (in my opinion) could get a look in. Almost any of his "In A silent way"/Bitches Brew"/"Jack johnson" music would fit in quite well on AM I think.

M.M.E.B have some good Prog(ish) albums out there. "M.M.E.B", "Solar Fire", "The Good Earth" and "Nightingales and Bombers" are the ones that I think are 'best fit'. Subsequent albums are a bit more M.O.R.
:D

Miles - likely
Nektar - A Tab - likely
MMEB - hmm, not sure.

The Good Earth is a great prog CD. The one after that, Nightingales and Bombers, is in my top 5 records (see a prior post) - good one, Keith!

There is a dearth of fusion - I really don't know how that fits in with the format - there is some stuff already played like Liquid Tension & Planet X, but music like Frank Gambale and that ilk could be an occasional mix.

I'm for that (i.e. more fusion).

Great guitarist.

I have a number of Chick Corea Elektric Band albums that he appears on and they are FANTASTIC!!!!
If I have to limit it to one album (sorry progdirjim it's impossible to pick just one track) I would go for "Beneath the Mask". Some fab Bass playing by John Patitucci on this as well.

It's great to have these discussions on AM. Really keeps the interest alive.

Thanks guys!!!

His release "The Great Explorers" is abvolutely amazing. And of course, it has Stu Hamm on it, which instantly legitamizes it!

Thanks for that!! On the strength of your recommendation I have just ordered it from Amazon.

I'll let you know what I think when it arrives.

Cheers.

we have Gambale Hamm Smith on the playlist already.

more fusion will be added over time, just never enough time to spend on the station.

so which MMEB to start with? I'm mostly familiar with their radio stuff (which I actually like), but which is most prog?

Thanks Jim,

I'd say anything from "Solar Fire", "The Good Earth" or "Nightingales and Bombers".

you will find this song to be very much what you are looking for! It is off of The Good Earth. The title cut of Nightingales and Time is Right is very prog. A personal favorite is Visionary Mountains. I'm not familiar with the Solar Fire record. Maybe I need to get this.
