New Moon On Monday falls on the 4th this year and to have something of a celebration (not to mention me slacking off for a week) I'll be taking requests from Moonies. World-wide Moonies are welcome to participate.

The criteria:

1. American Prog bands. Any year. try to keep them under 8 minutes.
Not necessarily "America" themed. Just American Bands will suffice.

2. Post them here and limit yourself to no more than 5 suggestions.

That's it.

Bring them on.

And as always................. PROG ON! :rockband:

1. Bigelf- Evils of Rock and Roll
2. Cathedral- Gong
3. Glass Hammer- The Conflict
4. Neal Morse- Supernatural
5. TCP- Fantastic Dreamer

Frick, this is a tough call. I've decided to go with relatively unknown and older US bands.

Kalaban - If you don't mind me running over, Procyon's Demise at 10:02 is an awesome choice. Shorter, Greysleyer at 2:36 kicks butt.
Fireballet - Carrolon is a great choice
Mirthrandir - Number Six is good
Crucible - Over The Falls
Ozone Quartet- Mutoid Man

I got lots more if you end up short on time :D

No special on American prog would be complete without Happy The Man!

Happy the Man - Service with a Smile (off of Crafty Hands.)

Well the ones I had in mind don't qualify. The one I had in mind that might qualify has already been suggested and that is Song for America by Kansas. Maybe some stuff by Fireballet, Ambrosia, Starcastle and Happy the Man. Some good suggestions so far. Glass Hammer, Spock's Beard and Salem Hill are important modern prog bands from the US. Also, Proto Kaw should be included.

I agree that the #1 obvious one is Kansas "Song For America".

Fireballet, Starcastle, Happy the Man, Dream Theater, Spocks Beard, Transamerica are all excellent options. Don't forget Echolyn, Proto-Kaw and Glass Hammer.

Have fun with it Fish!
