From insider talk, BD quit .

JA was approached and declined, so I'm thrilled w/ this decision.
Davison brings more creativity to the table.

:deadhorse Supposedly 8 hours old from the Yes website so it has to be true! ;)

It reads

Prog rock band YES were forced to cancel the last 3 shows of their European Tour in December due to the illness of lead vocalist Benoit David who has still not recovered. :doncab To avoid disappointing their fans on the forthcoming Australasian leg of their world tour, they have found a replacement singer.

Jon Davison will join YES as lead vocalist for the upcoming dates in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, and Hawaii. YES really appreciate Jon Davison joining them for this leg of the tour and are sure this arrangement will satisfy all YES fans.:rockband:

So the question is. Is it permanent? O_o :shootmeno

If there is a group that desperately needs an infusion of creativity, Yes is it.

JD is a SUPERB vocalist!!!!

If and Cor Cordium are the Yes albums that I've been waiting for for nearly 10 years.

I really liked Fly From Here too to be honest.

I find it interesting that the vocalists that Yes have used to "replace" Jon Anderson have all struggled and had trouble with their voices after a relatively short time. I'm sure that JD will be a great asset to the band.

Yeah, but ultimately, I'm just prefer a band get the best vocalist for the job. If that's Jon Davison, so be it, but I don't like the "Let's get someone that sounds like X" thing. Journey definitely has struggled with that lately.

Ronnie James Dio didn't sound like Ozzy.
Sammy Hagar didn't sound like David Lee Roth.
Steve Perry didn't sound like Gregg Rolie.
Heck, Trevor Horn didn't sound like Jon Anderson.

More important than a vocalist is a creative person. Journey's last two albums with Arnel Pinela, who sounds ridiculously like Steve Perry, SUCKED LIKE A HOOVER because there's no creative juice flowing. Not saying that'll be Yes's problem, but creativity is more important than vocal similarity.

It's easy to remember JON -----SON + Benoit DAVId = Jon Davison LOL!

Imo, Benoit was out of his natural range, judging from the Mystery material,
the constant strain caught up with him. JD seems comfortable singing in that higher register. I've been advocating this change at YFs for some time.

For the record, Jon (Anderson) issued a press release saying he was NOT approached, and that he and Squire haven't spoken in 4 years. From Glass Onyon, his PR firm:

For immediate Release

A Statement To The Press By Original YES Vocalist / Songwriter Jon Anderson

2/8/2012 - Asheville, NC - In response to recent rumors circulating about music legend and original YES vocalist / songwriter Jon Anderson being asked to re-join YES - these rumors are unfounded and false. Jon Anderson is busy with his solo career; he is currently on tour performing solo (tour dates and venues listed below), as well as recording new music. Jon also had this response to recent quotes in the news by Chris Squire that he is in regular communication with Jon: "I haven't spoken with Chris in four years, and the only e-mail I have received from him in the last 3 years was him asking for free tickets to my show in Mesa, AZ last week - very sad, but true."

I don't know if I believe Jon, though. My gut says Jon's being a bit of a bruised-ego-protector.

Nigel: What a wanker.
David: What a wanker.
Derek: Total no talent sod.
Nigel: He's got this much talent -- this much if he's lucky.
David: We carried him. We had to apologize for him with our set.
Derek: That's right.
Mick: That's right, yeah.
David: People were still booin' 'im when we were on.

It's kind of funny how much history repeats itself with YES. Along with the Flower Kings sometimes it seems like they are more Spinal Tap than Spinal Tap.
