Just finished listening to "Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven". I am totally exhausted yet totally exhilerated at the same time. What a musical journey it was. Two cd's, 4 songs and I can't explain where the sonic landscapes took me. Absolutely incredible. The best post rock band out there. I wish they had new material. I know a lot of you do not care for them, but their music does something indescribable to you while listening to it. This is a masterpiece.
Prog On.

"It is just a matter of taste" the ape said and continued eating the soap....
(I only hope that nobody begins the request marathon with GYBE again inspired by this thread...Whoever has this in mind, please buy the CD (it should be cheap by now) and listen so often you want, but do put them in the q...:))...

Prog On.Schupdoggy, my man. I hear you. That album is simply amazing. It is exhausting to listen to, but great - the way extending your normal workout by 20 minutes is exhausting but great. I agree with you 90%. The 10% I disagree with you one is the best post rock band - That's Do Make Say Think. :-V
Also, the exclamation point goes at the end of the name on the first three albums. They put it after You on the fourth, just to be pretentious! :headscrat
But yeah, amazing album.

Let's hope this reunion tour rejuvenates them into doing a fifth album.
That way, we can request the crap out of it with dedications to Mailo, Ken, and Lotus!

Yesspaz, yes Do Make Say Think are an excellent group, but imho GYBE are the leaders of the pack. I also like Don Caballero. Not sure why they are so disliked here on the moon. I love listening to GYBE with the headphones on. They are nothing short of brilliant :-V

People with adventurous taste and ears can't escape the amazing music of GYBE. Saw a reunion concert last year in Belgium and I was thinking : these girls and boys are the future of postrock. Steve Reich and Filip Glass most have given GYBE much inspiration for this free form of dissonant minimal music.
Of course you have to be "OPEN MINDED" for a trip of GYBE. Old prog freaks aren't very progressive when they dislike GYBE. Give it a try !
