I downloaded Keith Emerson, Marc Bonilla & Terje Mikkelsen's new CD - "Three Fates Project" from iTunes - $10 for the whole album. An hour of music - some old - TARKUS - a new version, Endless Enigma and Fanfare for the Common Man. Plus - one that KE & MB have been doing for a few years - Malambo. There is also an interesting version of Marc Bonilla's American Matador.
It is a wonderful listen. The Keith Emerson Band - with Marc Bonilla - is well integrated with the orchestra sound of Terje Mikkelsen's conducting of the Munich RundFunkOrchestra. There are a few 'new' songs that have a strong orchestral flavor - reminding me of KE's soundtrack work.
The new version of Tarkus (Concertante) is really good. In my mind, I can hear Greg Lake singing the lyrics - but the melody of the lyrics is there - in guitar, piano, synth, and orchestral parts. It is quite good - and even a little less bombastic.
The download from iTunes included a multipage digital booklet - with short articles about each of the three main performers and a list of the KEB members and Orchestra members.
Lamour might even enjoy some of this! 8-o I downloaded it on Friday night - and have listened to it 3 full times so far.... with anticipation for more listening this week.
Sharing my thoughts...
