Which is his best work? I just got The Geese & the Ghost and I am a bit disappointed.

I'm not sure what you were expecting. This album is reminescent of Tresspass, his last album with Genesis. It is widely regarded as his best. Anthology has some other good moments. His Private Parts & Pieces are fairly nice also. Much of it is solo pieces or small ensembles, mostly instrumental. Ant is NOT a good singer, so I avoid his vocal tracks. His album Soft Moon, Slow Stars is nice ambient synth.
I've heard the album Tarka is great. The title theme from that album is on the Anthology album. That would be my next recommendation. My other recommendation would be to sit down and re-listen to The Geese and the Ghost when you are not busy.

Then you shouldn't try anything else from Anthony Phillips which IMO is his best job.
Have tou listened "Henry: Portraits from Tudor Times", it's brilliant, very similar to early Genesis with a medieval sound, really love it.

Thanks for the input.
Yes, it's getting better the more I listen to it. I was expecting something closer to Trespass/Nursery-Genesis, but I'm getting the impression more and more now that The Geese & the Ghost is quite good in its own right.

is one I have by him - on album only. His keyboard period. Mildly interesting.

Another album worth investigating is "Sides".
It has one track in particular that I like and that's 'I want your love'. It's a bit slushy but I like it nonetheless.
I've got 3 "Private parts and pieces" albums. Does anyone know of any others?
"Wise after the event" has some good moments on it too. I think that sums up Ant's albums for me........lots of good moments.
BTW: "Wise after the event" is worth getting for the cover alone. There's a giant squirrel chewing a golf ball on the surface of the moon, a policeman on a bike chasing the lunar module, a guy rowing a boat in a crater and other things too that all seem to familiar to me from the old daze............

Hi !
My favourite Ant's album is rather Slow Dance. Search for MP3's, I think it isn't avalaible from any music stores in Europe. It's marvelous ! For more suggestions about Ant's music, go to : http://www.anthonyphillips.co.uk/discography/recommendations.htm
Oh, Ivory Moon is also beautiful.
