There are tons of prog bands out there that due to time and money limitations, differences in taste, or obscurity, aren't on AM. Which unrepresented prog band would you most like to see added?

Can't vote in these polls for some reason but for what it's worth I'd go for Faust (esp. The Faust Tapes).
I'd also put in a request for the 70s Irish prog band "Fruupp". They were SUPERB!!!!

There is only one song, a Progday live cut, on AM. This Michigan band put out arguably one the ten best records I have ever heard, "Unfolded Like Staircase". Their debut, "Push and Profit", is also outstanding.
"Unfolded" is a must for Aural Moon.

I made the poll and forgot to vote!
So I just voted for Tortoise. Dag, yo!

Who was the other person who voted for Tortoise?

Aside from Opeth's Damnation ,which is being added, Bjork is my next choice.

Bjork rules. She's the second best thing to ever come out of Iceland (after Sigur Ros).

We agree on that one, Yesspaz. You rule!

If I hadn't just request Glisten, I'd go request some Sigur Ros - probably "Olsen Olsen." Dang, that's a perfect piece of music.

I voted for "other"; specifically requesting Roger Waters...especially Amused To Death.
What do the rest of you think of that?

Yeah that was me who voted for Tortoise. I like that stuff you can't quite put your finger on.

Tortoise rules. The only problem with them is that besides their four official studio albums, they have literally four more albums worth of stuff that is nearly impossible to get your hands on. 7" singles, split eps, 3" discs, various artists comps, b-sides - OH! it's so frustrating! Why do bands do that!!!!!! If they'd compile all that and put out a boxed set of rare stuff, I'd buy it the day it came out...... sad.....

How about Earthworks? (I'm new here so maybe you guys already are playing some) There's a canadian outfit called "The Addison Project" that is really hot.

I just heard some samples from their website. Interesting progressive music with a strong jazz flavour. It certainly would appeal to many listeners here.
Pelle, any idea if they are touring? I live in Montreal and would love to see them.

I don't know if they're a band as such. I think it's more of a studio ensemble than anything else, but I just e-mailed the leader and I'm hoping he replies with some info. If he does I'll let you know.

Now I've heard of a band called the Addison Groove Project. Is this related to the Addison Project? Never having heard or seen either band, I can't really comment. AGP apparently plays live fairly often, and has a horn section. That's about all I know about them.
I guess some more research is necessary.

Oh fine, make me do my own research. :)
All I really wanted was for someone to say "yeah, they're the same band" or "nope, no relation... just an odd coincidence."
So, in case I wasn't the only one wondering... "nope, no relation... just an odd coincidence."
Thanks anyway Keith.

The Addison Project should be called The Addison Groove Project (it's a cooler name) .

Hi,
The Addison Project is NOT Addison Groove Project. They are 2 distinctives groups.
The Addison Project (Prog/Jazz) are from Montreal and they put out an album (mood swings) 2 months ago approx. http://www.unicornrecords.com/addisonproject/ . You are right, this band is amazing and the album sounds fantastic !
Addison Groove Project are from the USA (funk kind of music ), don't know them much.

Just picked up an album by Magenta that would fit nicely on AMs play list.
Band: Magenta
Album: Revolutions
It's a double album with 4 beautiful suites on it. Outstanding!!!!!

I'll look into Magenta.
Do me a favor, and, when making a suggestion, start a new thread with the artist's name as the topic - that makes it much easier for me to keep track of the requests.
Thanks!

Hey!!
I've only just recently become a member here and I listen to AM as often as I can - lovely music all the time! (almost anyways)
however, I noticed that the fabulous band Klaatu and their nice albums (Hope, especially) is not represented in the playlist! That is truly a shame and I hope something can be done about it!
I also see that my personal favourites , the Alan Parsons Project, is well represented! :D
*otherwise happy with the world*

I have some Klaatu and may add some one of these days. They're one of those bands that I heard years and years ago, but when I repurchased the CD, it wasn't as good as I remembered.

I remember there being rumours that Klaatu were The reformed Beatles. Caused a bit of a stir in this household I can tell you. Still, for a bit more info go to:

Has anyone heard of Cosmosquad? I came across some mp3 excerpts online while looking for some other band (can't remember who now), and I was blown away. They're a "power trio" (no lyrics that I could recall) with an awesome guitarist.
I'm not necessarily recommending them since I don't know much about them, but I wouldn't mind hearing more stuff like that.

Matt,
More info on Cosmosquad can be got at their official web site:
http://www.cosmosquad.cjb.net/
As for similar bands that ARE on AM. Give Liquid Tension Experiment a listen. I'm sure given your last post that you'd love it - if you don't already of course.

I'm familiar with LTE. They guy I work with is a big Petrucci and Portnoy fan. Yeah, Cosmosquad had that sound. I'll check their website out. Thanks, Keith.

Sorry Jim, you can delete this thread if you want.
Is it possible to set up a forum for requests and make a format where we have to post it as band name?
