It's getting hard for me to keep track of all the suggestions in the 4 page long "music suggestions" thread. So, as Avian first suggested:

Start a new thread for each band or album you'd like to hear on AM. This will make it easier for me to prioritize what requests I want to work on getting, and it will also be easier for others to chime in with comments, support, or a thumbs down (although I haven't seen too much of that).

Thanks,
Program Director

Just trying to keep the format consistent - please start a new thread for each band or album you want to suggest.

Thanks!

I think maybe the reason there aren't many thumbs down is that that nature of the Aural Moon listener is to explore new music. When an AM listener X sees AM listener Y (whom we assume has decent musical taste because said person is here) suggest an artist unkown X, X doesn't give it the thumbs down because if it is added, that is a new band to hear. While there are thousands of bands each listener hasn't heard, the fact that an AM listener gives credence to a band immediately gives that band a little more legitamacy than would otherwise be the case.

That is my theory why there are few people saying "don't add what that other guy said."

Yesspaz out.

Pretty well put. I agree entirely. But if some joker started asking
for say Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zep, AC/DC etc or any other band that are clearly not progrock but heavy rock, then I would say something. AM is NOT the place for it. Having said that I notice that Zep and Page has crept on.

The end is nigh people - goodbye to one brilliant progrock site.

Well, I don't completely agree with ExPurple on this. Just because the band's primary musical expression is in a different genre doesn't nessecarily mean that individual songs they do won't fit the profile. An example (maybe not a good one, be an example nevertheless) is if this were an Easy Listening station, you would be missing out on a rather good little piece of music if you discounted Black Sabbath altogether (the piece is 'Fluff' and is an excellent, light instrumental piece that would more than fit the Easy Listening taste).

Relax, ex-Purple. The end is not nigh. One (acoustic) Zeppelin song and two Page instrumentals do not mean Aural Moon is turning into a hard rock station. It never will, unless Avian fires my stubborn butt. (and since he agrees with me on this, I think we're safe):D

Thanks for the reassurance. I cannot say as I care how much heavy rock is on AM as if truth beknown, I am more of a heavy rock fan than anything with my collection being very biased in that direction. In fact very biased towards heavy rock. Concerts and festivals that I've been to have almost exclusively been heavy rock bands. So go ahead put up as many as you like.
Go on make my day.

As for Black Sabbath's Fluff. Yes very good. From Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. I quite like Killing Yourself To Live from the same album.
With me having some 16 Sabbath albums, would you say that I like them. Just a bit eh. But I wouldn't expect nor ask ANY track to turn up on AM. Simply because they are NOT a progrock band.

To pick and choose acoustic/instrumental tracks to me opens the gates to ANY band and ANY Genre. Mark my words, the heavy rock fans will arrive. I can vision it now 'I'd like to suggest Houses of The Holy and Physical Graffiti....'

If you want Led Zep or any other heavy rock band track, then go elsewhere. Not AM. As a Floyd fan myself I ask a simple question.
Why do people come to AM requesting Floyd stuff. I know of at least 4 net radio sites that are dedicated to Floyd and only Floyd.
Several at a better stream rate.

Add who you like. But don't winge at me when it all goes sour.

Remember how I found AM. A search engine for Sky's Toccata.
So it just takes just the ONE track regardless of how good it is for the heavy rock brigade to turn up. Think about it.

Yes - completely relaxed.

It doesn't matter how many people request Led Zeppelin tracks - we'll only add ones that we feel are progressive. We've actually already had some requests for Led Zep, and after listening to my collection (which includes most of their stuff), one song made it on.

I apply my prog filter before adding any track, and Avian has veto power on top of that. So the odds of this being anything but a prog station are quite low.

Fair enuff Jim.

I've completely lost my Green Manalishi single by Fleetwood Mac
if you could put it on AM sometime PLEASE. I quite miss it. Thanks

Well I've discovered two more thanks to AM which seem very
promising so hang on to those requests. Haze and Lanvall. Can only but try but I haven't requested Schicke, Blueman, Infinutum
for a while so I'll see.

Well I know my perceptions are not in agreement but blinding hell.
How on earth did Mushroom by Can pass your filter? This is surely
an entirely different style / genre altogether???

mmm Well I know a certain idol of mine who's style is similar
to this so perhaps there is chance that probably the most
'progressive' band of all time will turn up on AM.
