What happens to a request if a show gets in before the request does. For example, if I request a song, and before it plays, Extended Play comes on for three hours, does the request play sometime after Extended Play goes off? or does the request just get deleted?

The request should be qued up after the show plays.

If your request takes more than an hour to play, then one of these things happened:
- There are so many requests that there's just a backup
- The band you requested just played, and your request is being delayed.
- I've deleted the request because it's something that's requested every day multiple times.
- There's a show running, in which case, you could still run into a combo of the above reasons aside from teh show length.

What's an example of stuff you delete?

Mastermind - The Endless Enigma
Van Der Graaf Generator - La Rossa
Genesis - Do the Neurotic
It's seasonal - folks get on a new songs and start requesting it like crazy for awhile, then switch to another song and repeat the process.

In other words, a request driven station manages to fall into a Current/Recurrent/Oldie pattern, just like a commercial station. Perfect! Now it really is "radio."
Songs go in a bell curve:
New - rarely played
Semi-new - Played occasionally
Slightly known - played frequently
"Hit single" - Played all the freaking time
Starting to get old - played frequently
Getting really old - played occasionally
Old - rarely played
Perfect, I'd say let it regulate itself - unless someone has a crush on the same song every day for two weeks.

That's what I'm saying - they request teh same song every day for months.
The SAM software lets me set the playlist like that if I wanted to (based on formula), but it's truly random except for requests or actual DJing.

I for one applaud the elimination of overrequested tunes.

I just overpost!
I average about a request a week. As for this week's request, she's not here yet!
