Mailo, right on with PFOTM. It's an album I go back to time and time again.
I'd also add:

Blue Shift - Not the Future I Ordered
Mindflowers (Hungary) - Improgressive

I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned the absolute KING of Prog that isn't Prog: Igor Stravinsky wrote many charts that couldn't possibly be considered anything BUT prog. The firebird suite still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and Rite of Spring caused a freaking RIOT in Paris when it was released.

My kinda guy, actually.

Dreamship--Ancestral Voyage ; a cross between JA's Olias of Sunhillow and Glass Hammer; symphonic prog

Ship of Fools--Let's Get This Mother Outta Here; great space prog

The Tea Party--The Edges of Twilight and Splendor Solis

Hi, Dot. I appreciate your comment.
Actually my knowledge about classical music is poor so it's a pleasure for me to know Stravinsky's works more.
Would you please let me know your recommended albums? :notworthy

Thanks.

I consider Stravinksy anything but prog. Sure, he's out there and makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, but prog is short for progressive ROCK. Stravinsky's not rock. Likewise, there are thousands of non-prog rock songs (and songs of other genres) that make the hair stand up, and they're not prog.

Just my two cents. 8-q

One of the great 'could be if you squint' prog albums is Tomorrow Belongs To Me by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

Scotland's own SAHB were one of the great under-rated bands of the '70s, and TBTM was SAHB at their best.

The Tale Of The Giant Stone-eater, Give My Compliments To The Chef and Sharks' Teeth were pure prog IMO - and Shake That Thing is one of my favourite songs ever.

Definitely worth checking out by moonies - hail Vibrania!

Jim, if there's any albums people mentioned here that aren't on the moon it's because they are out of print. From my list I remember you telling me that the Nightwinds and Eduardo Bort are not on here.

Update: OK, I just checked and it looks like you have Eduardo Bort but not Nightwinds. However, you don't have anything by the Australian prog band Aragon.
