No prob, taril! Some people donate CD's if they're moved to do so, but that's up to them. I just wanted to pipe up about the copies vs originals issue. :grinz:

If I like it I'll buy it. The thing here I'm suggesting isn't piracy. It's exposure. Getting a copy on the Moon can only help this new prog band. We're a community. What's the difference if Jim owns it or I own it or Taril owns it? Taril adding it to the Moon and Jim adding to the Moon wash out to be the same thing; Jim's just the gatekeeper.

To be technical, this whole site could be construed as a copyright issue.

Look, I just got two nice CD's from a band named Auroris. I'll be uploading them to the Moon sometime soon enough. And I will play them on my show. If I just played them on my show, all I need to do is own it myself. But if it's on the Moon, the station must own it. If I own something and upload it, it's considered to be on the station. The way I understand it, Jim needs an actual disc in case an audit is done. I can have a disc and as long as I am "working" for the station, it should be ok for me to own it.

So that's why we should wait on this one, especially since it's popular. How about we don't open a can of worms?

And I may be wrong, but even if Tony from Auroris says to play his CD (and he will, and is happy for the exposure), that doesn't necessarily mean we're allowed to play it. We have to have a copy.

I know what you mean, spaz but the thing is, it should be the artist's call whether or not they would like each individual to pay for the physical CD, or whether or not they want exposure by allowing someone other than themselves to "distribute" their music virtually, without the purchase of more CD's.

And my understanding of Jim's stand on this is that he wants original CD's if someone is willing to donate music to the station, unless the artist gives permission otherwise.

To me this is only prudent. Otherwise it would be opening the situation up to all kinds of nebulous interpretation, however well intended the gift.

And I'm speaking from the point of view of a listener wanting to donate music, I don't know enough about shows to comment on that.

I'm downloading the longer one now (slow on dial-up), but the thing I found interesting is this: SPACE/POST ROCK. Yep, they're described as SPACE/POST ROCK. Isn't that the best way to describe Godspeed, Mogwai, and Tarentel? I think so. But these are short songs and by the picture I doubt they sound anything like those bands. This should be interesting.

Garden Wall *: Italian prog band of the nineties, 4pices; short tracks,aggressive guitars ; strong drumming not far from KC's seventies spirit with Hammill likes vocals (Seravalle, the singer seems to be a pH fan), 4 or 5 ? cds but lot were on the defunct german prog label" Music is intelligence":hrm: , it means "collectors" now ! Are they still active ?

The other early albums are good too, but beware of "Forget the Colours"! It's the most complex and dark prog metal album I've ever heard; it sure lives up to the title. Almost unlistenable IMO.

The sound on "Path of Dreams" is much warmer and more normal, albeit ambitious, prog. I especially love the way they can play long instrumental passages without ever getting boring and repetetive. A true gem. Check this album out if you can find it!
