The latest and greatest

Greetings one and all!

Todays additions, though few, are heartfelt. Personally, I've never heard of either of these groups, but I'm sure I will shortly. I'd have queued up some examples, but Gnosis was running, and Alex would have probably had issues had I stepped on his show.
  • Gargantua - Gargantua
  • Paatos - Kallocain

And, for reasons known to nobody in particular, it seems that one album didn't get announced. Shame on me. I blame the hours I work.
  • Satriani, Joe - Surfing with the Alien

(and if that got double announced, well, it's such a kickin' album, it deserves two. So there. :P )

Enjoy!

Roger -Dot- Lee puts on his critic cap (was Re: Happy June!)

Now it's generally considered bad form to quote your own stuff. However, I've never been known for my form, so here are my comments:

Quote:

  • Blezqi Zatsaz - The Tide Turns

This one is turning into a total surprise. I'm not usually a fan of artists I have trouble pronouncing. On this one, I will make an exception. This is a must hear. Very, VERY tight accoustic guitar. Highly suggested.
Quote:

  • Drama - Drama

Another surprise from the vault. I find that I"m starting to like this one. Nuances and dynamics that I was certainly NOT expecting. This is another one that I plan to investigate as time goes on.
Quote:

  • McLaughlin, John - Adventures In Radioland

This one probably surprised me more than anything else. I was expecting more new-agy/neo-prog from Mr. McLaughlin, and have been pleasantly surprised at the balance involved. Very tight, free flowing, yet secure in itself. Must Investigate More.
Quote:

  • Mostly Autumn - The Spirit of Autumn Past

Typical of Mostly Autumn. This is not a disparaging comment at all. They do what they do very well. Nice, relaxing music without being sleep inducing or overly impressed with themselves. And it shows in their music.
Quote:

  • National Health - Missing Pieces

This one leaves me a bit confused. How about some feedback? Good? Bad? Too neo/classical/medal, ETC.

Actually, I'd LOVE to hear some feedback on all of these. I, for one, am impressed at the quality and dynamics that are being re-introduced into the 'rock music' genre as a direct result, IMO of the progressive rock scene.
Quote:

And a couple of late additions:
  • Hackett, Steve - A Midsummer Night's Dream
  • Hackett, Steve - Voyage Of The Acolyte

I personally am looking forward to hearing a bunch of this new stuff. From what I've heard, it should be some outstanding work.

Well, enough rambling. I have to get up in far too few hours.

Roger -Dot- Lee.

Sending July out with a *BANG!*

We've managed to locate some VERY interesting looking tracks (they all look interesting if you can read MP3 encoding, but that's another story, of course).

Anyway, here is the latest and greatest! Wonderful way of sending July out with a Whumph! or something like that.

  • Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica
  • Poverty's No Crime - The Chemical Chaos
  • Zappa/Beefheart - Bongo Fury
  • Zappa, Frank - 200 Motels

As always, enjoying the music is encouraged, and tossing live ordinance at Microsoft Corporation, while cheered upon by a certain contingent of Aural Moon members, is generally frowned upon by the authorities.

Roger -Dot- Lee, debating whether his new found monicker "Dr. Dot" should become a standard part of his vernacular, and even going so far as to ponder changing his middle name to -Dot-...

Latest updates -- 9/30/04

Instead of doing my patriotic duty as an American by slamming down a sixer of Budweiser and laughing at the two idiots debating for the presidency, I decided to take this wonderful opportunity to upload Jim's latest contribution to the station.

OK...while I was busy running Gagliarchives and chasing down errant inodes and forcing them into submission, Jim's been doing what Jim does best: finding cool stuff. And lots of it. And when I say lots, ladies and gentlemen, I'm not talking about your run of the mill lots. I'm talking about lots on steroids. Lots that need special permission to drive on the freeways. Latest updates to the moon

Jim thought he could slip one by on me, but no. I'm far too crafty and on-the-ball to allow that to happen.

The fact that the new files had been sitting there for two days not withstanding, of course.

The first half of this list has already been posted on the main page, so I didn't bother posting them here. I posted them here now because I felt like it. So there. :p
  • Asturias - Brilliant Streams

Latest additions to the library, 1/11 edition

Greetings and salivations, Moonies!

I know that you all by now have noticed that I've made this particular thread sticky. No, it's not because I'm so enamoured with my own turgid prose that I expect everyone to swoon at every keystroke.

I just got sick of trying to find the bloody thing. So I made it permanent so I wouldn't LOSE it.

Anyway, here's the latest additions to the library. Some VERY interesting looking stuff. I'm going to dig around at these my very own self as time allows...
  • Clearlight - Infinite Symphony
  • Guerin, Shaun - Archives
  • Moraz, Patrick - Human Interface
  • Solstice - Silent Dance
