Re: Top 5 Prog Rock Albums
Not razzing on spaz but...
This kind of question is fun if you're playing, and it's good to see new people post in the forums. It's also a question that's not going to go away, as folks discover the Moon. People who have played before can either take a jab at it again, or go and do stuff that makes them happy. Lots of choice. :yougo |
Re: Top 5 Prog Rock Albums

Re: Top 5 Prog Rock Albums
Don't worry Pelo, people are enjoying the thread. :)
As for me, I can't really give a top 5; for some odd reasons every prog album I know gets tied for 1st position when I think about it. I can't really decide. |

Re: Top 5 Prog Rock Albums
some thoughts:
Pelo, I didn't think of adding the music that way, good idea Spaz. But Jim has your email to me also. Spaz, I don't access Progressive Ears because of the sheer voluminosity (fake word, Webster is choking on a adjective there) of the posts. I don't think new members need to search the boards. This forum isn't the easiest to find stuff. I can't even find my old shows if I didn't have them written down. Got a Kx record in there :) What I would like to see is some basic info on the new members. Pelo has some background but a lot of new members just out their name in. And mail you cheated and did a top 10:haha: I have to do a top 100 thread... |
Re: Top 5 Prog Rock Albums
1. Chris Squire - Fish Out of Water
2. King Crimson - Red 3. VDGG - Still Life 4. Steve Hackett - Voyage of the Acolyte 5. Fantomas - Suspended in Animation (check these guys out... they are TWISTED!.... they should be on the MOON!) |

Sometimes a thread seems worthwhile and no one hits it. Other times it's goofy and everyone does. Seems to me people like it. Who cares that it gets recycled every so often? |
Re: Top 5 Prog Rock Albums
I like threads that reappear...it is like revisiting the past... as with this thread... who knows.. 2 years from now my top 5 list might change and it will be fun seeing where my head was at this point in time!

FAQ, free-flowing thoughts
To R'n'R and artboy:
I've got no particular problem with this thread or these polls in general. It is just that with over 2500 threads and close to 20000 posts, it might be beneficial to offer a little guidance, other than just the keyword-based search mechanism, for those who're trying to find something specific from the archives. Not that this is awfully important to me. Whatever eventually keeps the Moon best on its orbit... that's the way to go, I suppose. -Methem |

Re: Top 5 Prog Rock Albums
... seems like a good time for my first post...
1. Selling England by the Pound - Genesis, 2. Silent cries and mighty echoes - Eloy, 3. Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd, 4. Lark's Tongues in Aspic - King Crimson, 5. Time is the key - Gong (Pierre Moerlen's Gong), My choices are somewhat seasonal. Although the previous list represents my gold standards, I am at times (particularly during Fall) very partial to Wind & Wuthering, by Genesis, to One Size Fits All by Zappa, and to Tales from the Lush Attic, by IQ. |
