Aural Moon - Progressive Rock Discussion - FOCUS

Attention fans of Dutch prog rockers Focus—
They issued a 50th anniversary box this past November that was curated by a longtime fan and it’s pretty mind blowing. I know, I know, they did a box just a few years back but you can pretty much get ready to put that one out to pasture. For this one, they focused on the core records from 1970-1976, fleshing out each one with bonus tracks including some live versions of tunes like “Eruption” that break the 30-minute barrier, and one that clocks in at a brain-busting 47 minutes!! They also added two CDs of never-before-released live recordings from the BBC (including the long-circulating, and amazing “Live from the Paris Theatre” material) as well as the bands archive (which they indicate in the liner notes they’ve pretty much emptied with this box) and tons of unreleased songs, alternate takes etc. And everything is remixed/remastered from the multitracks so it sounds great. I’ll get around to dealing with the 2 included DVDs at some point as well which include their ‘Live at the Rainbow’ film from 73 which they restored from 16mm film. Great package
