Hello fellow Moonatics!
I need to praise some 2014 releases. As Football Season is about to start, I make a new Instumental Playlist to play in the back round of games. Quite loud I might add. Man , these were easy picks to be shuffled.

Karfagan -Magician's Theater- Best Instrumental CD in a Long time, Power, touch and glory. The Epic Title Track is Killer. Has that Anima Mundi feel. Gorgeous. This is Prog, not fusion
Quantum Fantay- Teragaia- No Jam in here, well thought out pieces that rock and moves your body. Instrumental Goodness.
Nathan Mahl - Justify- Fuse ON! Rock ON! Sing it Baby, this CD has great Instrumentals and a few Songs too, Guitar is a joy of skill and Tone.
Also:
Druckfarben - Second Sound- Maybe the best of 2014, just brilliant and so original
the Merlin Bird - Chapter and Verse- More for the Strawbs, Renaissance, old English sound. Lush Harmonies, pleasant Compositions, Very clean .open recording. A wonderful disc when your in a softer mood...
P.S. my Mom , who I care for, Loves this Disc as I play it for her at lunch... All of it! Mom likes the Moodies too. She turns 90 on August 30th

That's 5 but hot on my speakers daily are 2014's - Jonas Lindberg, Synaesthesia, IQ, HUIS, Cosmograf, and Monarchs Trail, Neo-Synth- Vocal Goodness

and many others ....

Hmmm right now I have been listening to albums that are not prog at all. maybe because I get to hear prog whenever I want right here on AM...
Albums listening to at the moment:

1. Beck - "Morning Phase" a fucking brilliant super-calming album from this longtime multitalent! ...
I would say best album of 2014 the sound production is flawless.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H41bw8N-fQU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIWbgR4vYiw

2. The Strypes - "Snapshot" these kids aren't even old enough to buy a beer in the clubs they are playing in. I can't wait till their 25.
they are influenced by all the right bands, including The Yardbirds
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRs5G5j0SEs

3. Lykke Li - "I Never Learn" new album from this Swedish singing sensation. Here is 'Get Some' from an earlier album, and
'I Follow Rivers' and 'Gunshot' from her latest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TTPGAy5H_E
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZYbEL06lEU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIruwzhozTc

4. Alvvays - self titled album ... indie band out of Cape Breton NS, this band is very much in the sound of indie bands out of Boston in the late 80's
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIJhYeLCkYE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bZiFFLMnOQ

5. Kimbra - "Vows" ['come into my head' is a nice pop track off of it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eDQdYIqhbE

I know... some odd indulgences. I keep my ears open to everything.

this week just added
Thievery Corporation to my list
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfwPJhwh0Ew "Lebanese Blonde" is nice to work to.
and this album> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0CBzKfvA80 is super relaxing for the end of the day.

Re: What CD's Are you Playing Right Now? Top 5

been a while since I have done this but here goes...

for 2014...

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong - this band from Baltimore USA has a great funky sound and knows how to play the progressive also.

Cirrus Bay - The Search for Joy - This is such a wonderful band with very thoughtful lyrics and a female vocal that is just mesmerizing.

Major Parkinson - Twilight Cinema - not sure if this is progressive or a sound tracks but whatever the vocals are outstanding as is the music.

Darryl Way - Children of the Cosmos - Talk about a feel good CD, this is it with all the progressive melodies you would expect including a wonderful track that incorporates "Pacaellbel's Cannon".

Cosmograf - Capacitor - "Storing the Human spirit since 1745"

going back....

Times Up - Snow Queen - 2012
Unitopia - Artificial - 2010
Eclipse Sol-Air - Schizophillia - 2013
Crazy World - The Return of the Clown - 2012
Sebastian hardie - Four Moments - 1975

will try to do this more often!

Re: What CD's Are you Playing Right Now? Top 5

CDs this week include but are not limited to

Thievery Corporation -2014- Saudade
Thank you to Thor for pointing this one out, has a very 1960's Sergio Mendez sound to it.

Valenor -2014- Valenor
New band from UK, has a very heavy prog sound to it like you might hear on some old JANE or OMEGA

In Progress -2014- North Atlantic Echoes
Out of the USA this band has a very Neo Prog sound to it, very nice vocals and instrumentation makes this CD worth listening to

A Lunatic's Daydream -2014- In Isolation
Band out of the UK, the vocals can be a bit touch and go at times, but that can be forgiven as the music makes up for it.

One more....

Phoenix Again –2014- Look Out
This band from Italy is all mostly instrumental but the vocals it does have are still rockin, has a sound even the Gooze would like

and that makes 5 :)
