Our Way Out...

I've been meaning to do this for a while. My son is in a band called Our Way Out. They are not prog but I know there are some here who listen to other types of music. Just give them a listen and let me know what you think. Be honest.

Thanks for your time,
Rodney the Cribguy :lurk:

To be brutally honest … they’re very good! :-) Sounds like they have some experience together, nice tight sound. Great drummer. Good production and mix.

Vocals are a bit much on that second song, but I don’t care for most vocals in general so ...

Tell them to keep going and listen to AM for some good influences :-)

Cheers,
Art

I like the vocals. I think the first two songs are very, very good. The third song didn't do much for me. I am buying the EP though. Nice stuff.

I think the songs are well done, but to be honest, didn't do much for me. However take that for what it is worth, as currently I tend to favor either instrumental music or if there are vocals, then long instrumental passages. It is probably a good thing as the group are probably not going for the 53y/o male as their target audience :D.

Out of the three songs, I liked the second one the best, as I am a big fan of dynamics and contrasts, and I thought they did it well. They should be proud of what they have done and keep on writing and gigging to find their audience.

Thanks, Karl. They've been together about 2 years and they're starting to hit their stride. It's funny you mention their target audience. Kids don't seem to get them as much as the older crowd does.

The link also takes you to the band's other EPs. They have 3 in all plus a single (The Alchemist). The first and third were more self-produced locally. The second one was recorded in Cleveland, OH, at Lava Room Studios.

I just want to make sure that all 3 EPs are looked at. Not just the most recent.

Thanks again,

Forest Boy is one of my favorites, too. Very dark..

Most of their shows have been non-paying ones. It's hard to raise money for a full length album when the only money you're making comes from merch sales.. Maybe soon. They are trying to scrape together money for another EP.

*Update*

After their most recent show (Thursday night) they were approached by the headliner's lead singer. He said he loved their stuff and when they get their newest song recorded, send it to him. He would be keeping an eye on them..

That's pretty huge. Thanks for all of the support.

I noticed the band has over a thousand likes on FB, that's not bad going.

My friends band was able to grow quickly too when they started growing on FB.

I like your kids music, hopefully they get super successful.

Thanks for the listen and kind words. They go into the studio to record a new single on the 25th of this month. Also, they have a manager now so things seem to be picking up for them.
