COTM - Feature #44 - Wigwam

Come join us this week for WIGWAM, our featured artist for program #44.

From Finland, and formed in 1968, they were one of the leading Finnish Progressive Rock groups that garnered international attention. A mixture of blues, jazz and rock, they slowly evolved into progressive rock with a strong jazz feel.

The main members of the group were Ronnie Osterberg on drums, Jukka Gustavson on organ and piano, Jim Pembrooke on Vocals and Pekka Pohjola on bass.

That's an impressive line-up, and three of the members were accomplished composers. However, that also created some problems as well. But this incarnation was able to make it through 4 albums before moving on in 1974.

Today I will be playing the first 3 albums of their discography - all just added to the library for your pleasure. They are Hot N' Horny (1969), Tombstone Valentine (1970) and Fairyport (1971).

I hope you can join us - Friday evening @ 9pm (2100 est), Monday afternoon (1200 est) and Wednesday morning (0500 est).

See you in the Corner.

Great show, Dale. I enjoyed it. Have heard of Wigwam and Jussi Pekka Pohjola before, but don't have any of their recordings.
