March Poll!

For the March Moonster album feature pick for DRH, I've asked four Moonsters to suggest an album.

Sharcnorris said the debut Doors album, The Doors. It is classic.

Podakayne said Kool and the Gang's Light of Worlds needs an airing. I agree.

Artw suggested Robin Trower's Bridge of Sighs. It's a fine effort indeed.

Gr8sho92 said that CCR is the best American straight rock band, and mentioned Green River as a classic from them.

What say you? :smirk:

Doors just couple of things
K&TG ,, just ok ,,,and a mention,, given the poor and low state of black music nowdays,,,,what happened ??!! I think ,,in part the corrosive rap..hip hop or whatever and all types of them made the great black music I ve enjoyed goes to a diff and empty place

Re: March Poll!

The 'black' music that sells in the majority these days is less music than some attempt at developing some kind of culture: a culture designed to sell as much crap as they can and associate it to the music and this artificial 'culture'. It's way, way beyond selling t-shirts and concert tickets. Many of these 'artists' are less interested in the music than they are in the music business as a vehicle to financial success and empire-building. It's not just rap, hip-hop and (what now passes for) R&B, 'white' music gets in on the act too. And so many of them are far too interested in awards ceremonies, which are nothing more than advertising for them. The music service created by Jay Z, Beyonce, Madonna, et al, actually sickens me. As if they don't make enough money already, this is not an attempt to assist little-known artists, it's only about the ones who are already at the top. These people don't give a crap about the music-buying public - the overpriced crap that is the Dr Beats headphone range is testament to this. /rant

agree Aero,, saying rap or hip hop is just the form,,a language,,so poor language to me,, btw,,
what you say is more range,,more comprehensive, and agree with it,,extended in many fields of our western culture,, but I have an option,,we have options.
Just missing when radio music was full with songs made,,composed, played,,sung by MUSICIANS..guys who really play.
in black music,,and beyond
nice topic

here music speaks for itself,,!! great tune, great musicians..my mention to Ernie Isley and his unique sound

Tough choice on this one, but I went with The Doors. I still remember their controversial performance of Light My Fire on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Re: March Poll!

Maybe you could run a "special" show and play 3 or 4 albums? Total run time for the 4 is ~ 145 minutes.

Just an idea.

Cheers,
Art

By one vote, looks like it's Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs."
