somewhere between the Beatles white & roxy music
there lies a stagering roger.lee trying desperately to make it back to the future...so many ch...ch...ch...changes would be made. 70's were fine it's the 80's that sucked....
aren't you glad we said happy birthday kev! :D |
the 80s weren't up to par with the 70s, but you had Journey, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Yes, Boston, Tom Petty, Genesis, some really good one-hit-wonder-songs, and the rise of the NBA thanks to Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. What else could be wrong with the 80s? Oh wait, everything else.

get out of it what you put in
oh how i shudder when I hear the 70's & 80's pigeonholed...
every period has its good and bad, the year is just a number!!! |

The 90's aren't much better, but the big difference is the internet. It's easier to find good music (however an individual defines "good"), and e-commerce has given independent artists and labels a viable business model. And Spaz, c'mon - 80's Genesis sucks compared to 70's Genesis. 80's Yes sucks compared to 70's Yes. 80's Floyd sucks compared to 70's Floyd. 80's Crimson - OK, that's a wash. Tom Petty? I like Tom Petty, but he's basic rock - not the same artistic level. And anything Boston did after the first album (1976) was redundant. So what's my point? I have no idea... :D |
