Netherlands Part 4: Into the 80s Xcellent show
 

i've been remiss at letting you know Sean when you've had a really great show. i enjoyed this one esp. as i was slaving away at a kitchen floor, and saying goodbye to some 5yr old goldfish. i played you loud and looked forward to the replay on the following day. and when it came i must say it sounded even better as i was jacked in—a captive audience.

thank you for that show, i'll be looking for some of those groups soon.

Thanks a lot Poda. This show felt really good while I was doing it too... not that I thought it would be good or bad or whatever, but I was having a lot of fun doing it. The two easiest bands from the show to track down are Flyte and Plackband.

One of my favorite bands from the era, I've been wanting to fit them in on an extended basis. Glory of the Inner Force is awesome, but it's at least on the Moon. Since you did not hit Galleons of Passion, and it's not on the Moon, I think that will be played...............;)

Yeah, Finch is great. Sadly the limits of the show and its nature prevent too much time from being spent on any one artist. I feel guilty if I indulge in more than 20-25 minutes of material, especially on a show where I want to fit in 8-10 artists.

You're doing a fine service by playing the territories with such depth. I for one prefer you hit as many artists as possible, because most of what you play is unknown to me. Keep it up!

Sean, your instincts are great. I love Finch too, but I think you do a greater service playing the stuff that we don't have on Aural Moon than rehashing things on the playlist. Some overlap is expected and good, since you should at least mention the usual suspects, but I for one like hearing the obscure stuff. And it's not unusual for something you play to end up on the playlist after I hear it - I'm waiting for a shipment from Musea that includes one of the Japanese bands you played months back - starts with "A"...

all the bands were new to my ears sean, as are most your adventurous shows. i like opening new horizons. more music than i can shake a stick at.

Jim, my guess is you are getting either Ain Soph or Asturias. Ain Soph is rightfully seen as one of the best Japanese symph bands around. But for some reason nobody ever talks about Asturias. As a big Mike Oldfield fan, I really enjoy the way their pieces unfold.
