Platypus / Yesspaz

OK, I searched the web and found they have 2 CD's When Pus Comes To Shove and Icycles. They didn't have any sound samples though. Looks interesting. I then went to Insideout Music to see if they had any new samples. I listened to Magellan, Kaipa, and Thomas Bodin. They were all to my taste. This is so exciting for me. I haven't been into any new music, this much, since the early 80's, other than Dream Theater. I am going to run my credit card to the dump..................sheeeeeesh!!! I also went to a Simon Apple site, last night.......there's another one I like.........:notsure:

Heh, I saw that "Rock Balls/Destination Unknown" played today. Did you here it? I personally come to Platypus from a King's X direction, not a Dream Theater direction. I notice you talk a lot about how much you like DT. Just to let you know, AM is not a big site for prog metal. There are a lot of other stations that play a heavy amount (pun intended) of prog metal. "Progged" comes to mind. So you won't find much DT here, nor Stratovarius, Queensryche, Voivod, etc. There's some, but not much.

Also, here's a killer site for catching up. Prog Archives is a great reference with a HUGE listing of random obscure this and that's. The best thing: free MP3s. Not samples; whole songs. Interested in a band, that's where to go. Pick a random band, download the free mp3s, and check em out.

If Kaipa and Tomas Bodin you have to check The Flower Kings out. Perhaps the most popular European prog rock band apart from Porcupine Tree, and surely the most popular representative of Scandinavian prog, that Kaipa and Bodin are part of.

Talk about contrast, I'll be seeing BOC tonight at the place I just saw The Flower Kings this year.

Watch for them around, they're the best...

i was doing a lot of listening and picking up new music at WinMx, that last couple of months. The fact is, I'd download....the listen....then go out and buy a bunch of CD's. I tried to get in there last night and it was gone. The home page search wouldn't open and they had 3 pay sites under WinMx. I guess they got shut down or had problems or who knows. Anyway, advice to where I can sample music would be appreciated. I've already got a long mental list of groups to hear. I will look for the Flower Kings and P...tree. Thanks
