Talking Heads - Fear of Music (1979)

Still hard to categorize, a very interesting record. More straight ahead than Remain In Light, which followed this release. (Remain in Light was featured last fall on the show). you'll of course hear Robert Fripp on the first cut and Eno's treatments throught the record.

Ben Mink - Foreign Exchange (1981)

The violinist and guitarist best known in these circles from FM (and othr circles from k.d. lang) put out an obscure instrumental solo record. Except for the excellent "Shoreleave" (a personal favorite), it's a bit barren, mostly underdeveloped musical ideas, but pleasant nonetheless. A nice listen.

Roots of Consciousness - s/t (1993)

This is an odd one. Quite proggy, but just plain weird in spots. Brian Neuwirth sings and plays guitar and writes the material. I'm not sure where this band hailed from, but Neuwirth sings in a Gabriel copy, and to my knowledge is not British. It's a bit annoying at times. The second tune could have been a Crack the Sky cut, but it's mostly an exercise in strange ideas. Some keepers in the lot, but overall a mixed bag. Should be a fun time. The only CD I know existing by them.

Paul Weller - Wild Wood (1994)

Music to calm down a bit. The former member of the Jam pursued a very different, uncompromising path in his solo career. In the "singer/songwriter" vein, not Moon-progressive but much more interesting than typical radio fare. "Shadow of the Sun" is a great song.
