The Fusion Reactor #104 - Perchance To Dream

I didn't post this last week as it was basically a case of "upload, then go on vacation." I forgot to tell you about the show. Oh yeah, the forums were closed anyway. Well guess what!? Since I was on vacation, I didn't do a new show, so you get to hear this one again! I hope you liked it, or if you missed it, you will like it.

Or maybe if you didn't like it last time, you will this time.

Dreams Wide Awake is one of the best fusion tunes ever...

Funny you quoted the first stage of La Villa Strangiato....

It's probably Shakepeare isn't it? No that's All the World's A Stage... some poet. Shows you how much I know poetry.

That's Shakespeare too... From Hamlet:

"To sleep, perchance to dream-
ay, there's the rub."

...it comes in shortly after that whole "to be or not to be" thing.

A lot of tracks don't seem that fusion-y to me on that playlist... are you trying to get your show more family-friendly moses? ;)

Just joking there, awesome tracklist you got there, most probably will listen to it.
Keep doing a great job.

I'd consider 6 of the 12 tracks to be fusion. That might be slightly less than usual, but not by a whole lot. You also have to take into account that the Mahavishnu track is 21 minutes long.

Yeah just saw that track length; it compensates for the other tracks then. Ignore what I said in that case. :)

Am I the only one who thinks that "Dreamtime" is the best song on Magnification? Everyone's crazy about "In the Presence of..." and the title track, but my money's on "Dreamtime," "We Agree," and "Spirit of Survival." Not only that, I think that "Give Love Each Day" is also better than "In the Presence of...".

Dude, because it sold so terribly, most stores are way overstocked. Any Coconuts in your area? They sell used copies for $2.99 and new for $4.99. The album really is worth more than that. I think it's a fine album. It's unfortunate that the two weakest tracks are #1 and #3, so you don't get a good first impression of the disc. But after a few listens, you realize that tracks 2 and 4-9 are stellar, and 10 is a pretty good one too.

Oddly, Rick, though the feel is different, a lot of the album has the same sound as parts of your favorite Tull album, Minstrel. "Soft as a Dove," "We Agree," "Requiem," and "Black Satin Dancer" could all come from the same album.
