Steely Dan Dictionary

"Ever wondered what a bodhisattva is? Or how to gaslight somebody? Then this site is for you! You're looking at an A-Z glossary of over 90 obscure words, people and places — all taken from the lyrics of Steely Dan songs."

While the Dan can't be classified as progressive, their music is certainly appreciated by many proggers (as I've noticed here on the Moon).

As the site's author explains, "Note that this is a dictionary of real-life people and places only. Becker and Fagen also concoct fictional names and locales for many of their songs, and because of their imaginary nature, it's impossible to pin down an exact definition. So this site doesn't attempt to explain words like Custerdome, battle apple, Steamer Heaven and many others. For ruminations on the meaning of such lyrics, visit the Fever Dreams site instead."

I hope you'll enjoy perusing this interesting website

In Tibetan Buddhism, a Bodhisattva is anyone who is motivated by compassion and seeks enlightenment not only for him/herself but also for everyone...

How about adding some of Steely's more progressive cuts to the station here? Tell me Aja wouldn't hang well next to other epics, for example...

True. I've not met anyone who dislikes that record.

I like a lot of fringe prog, or whatever the term of the day may be.

But I can't support selected songs. It's like adding "Meddle" and eliminating Seamus and San Tropez. "The Clap" is a great piece but it's not really "prog". Oh well, don't me started lol...

Jim almost always is a goor arbiter of what is to be added.

But if it was added it is fine with me...

Have you done all you can do?

How about adding the whole Aja album then? And maybe a few others? The Royal Scam is chock full of amazing guitar and Katy Lied has quite an eclectic mix of styles.
