Camping out for Nearfest!

That's what it's got to be now. Not only do you have Echolyn, LTE, Banco, and others, AND the modern-day Peter Hammill in Matthew Parmenter - now we have the REAL Peter Hamill. For those who like him a lot more than I, here it is:

NEARFEST PRESS RELEASE
December 19, 2007

Peter Hammill to perform at NEARfest X!

We are extremely honored to announce that Peter Hammill will perform
as a solo artist on the Saturday slate of NEARfest X. Over his nearly
forty year career, Hammill has recorded numerous solo albums featuring
his unique and emotive vocal style and thoughtfully penetrating lyrics
probing all aspects of the human condition. Whether performing solo or
with his famed group Van Der Graaf Generator, Hammill presents an
emotional depth and range that is unparalleled in contemporary music.

Hammill's 100-minute set will be sure to feature songs from the
breadth of his vibrant and iconoclastic career. With hundreds of songs
in his repertoire, no two shows are ever alike. As it has been ten
years since Hammill has graced a stateside stage, be sure not to miss
his performance at the tenth anniversary NEARfest!

* Peter Hammill's performance is pending an expected successful visa
application.

Line forms to the left!

I have had my room booked for many weeks. I can't wait for tickets to go on sale. This will be a truly memorable event. I look forward to seeing who the event organizers get to fill out the bill. See you there Moon Peeps.

I see that the concert starts Friday night. Is it possible to fly out Sunday night or would you typically miss something good.

While you're considering progfests, look at Bajaprog: http://www.bajaprog.org
Banco, Le Orme, Circa, Riverside, Rocket Scientists, Cast, Omni, and 13 (YES THIRTEEN) more bands. The VPP (roughly equivalent to (but better than) ROSFest Gold or Nearfest Patron) are only $150 each. That includes a nice polo shirt, program, poster, and 2 parties - a pre and post party that are outstanding.

If you're thinking about airfare for the east coast fests, you should think about Bajaprog. VPP tickets are on sale now (I have mine!!)

Your point is well taken. It appears that this line-up is substantially stonger than anything else I've seen (IMHO).
