2007 Poll Open!

Time to start (at last) :knowing: :knowing: :knowing:

You can vote for prog rock studio albums, prog rock live albums (released on CD's), non prog albums of prog rock musicians.
We don't vote for DVD's, reeditions & band compilations.

To cast your vote, send me the private message (http://auralmoon.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=490) with maximum ten albums ordered from no. 1 (which will be given 10 points) to no. 10 (one point). The album list of 2007 releases is provided below.

You can vote till 24th Ferbruary 2008.

(Show most likely on 1st March 2008. Keep checking Moon O'Poll forums as all new information will be posted here)

Please:
- do not post your votes in the forums and do not email your votes to Aural Moon administration
- do not send your votes with not ordered albums or some places shared by a few albums. Such votes with a comment like "Woj, I didn't know which one was better" always mean confusing situation for me while counting the points

Enjoy!

Busy today, can't look at it in detail, but I may go off the list if there are others.

I'll keep March 2 and 3 open for replays.:yougo

Re: 2007 Poll Open!

'Tis late now but for next year's poll, I can make a web based form where you, the listeners, can select your best of preferences 1 through 10. Then this information could be mailed -- and anonymously too, if you wish -- with your selections in a fashion that would be consistent to make Wojtek's task of collating the results easier.

Re: 2007 Poll Open!

Thanks Vax, I'll think it over. Indeed there would be probably less mathematical work for me. On the other hand I love the personal aspect of this poll as some Moonbuds comment their votes and share their detailed opinions on the albums, good/bad year etc etc. This is fun.

So we shall see. That topic will probably come back next year when there might be problem if I manage to finish my album this year (there is a chance). Presence of this album on the list could make voting via PM-ing me confusing. On the other hand I tend to think that this album should just be ommited in poll and then I can stay by the current form. Nah.. future. Let's concentrate on this year edition then.

I can save you the tabulation effort and still provide a comment field.

Well, I have a year to put something together. I could put up a sample sometime well before the actual polling and you can see how you like it.

Re: 2007 Poll Open!

Thanks Cozy, nicely done. I had Oblivion Sun in my top 10 and the Flor de Loto in the top 20.

Also not on Woj's were:

Izz Live at Nearfest
Anton Roolaart - Dreamer
Dave Kulju - Abstract Expression
3 - The End Is Begun

After the voting is closed, I'll post my top 20 in my forum as part of the show replay on my show. Then others can chime in with their top picks if they so choose (or post them here).

Woj usually has a Sat and a Sunday replay. I will skip my Sunday PM slot that week and rebroadcast the show in my Monday slot, for a total of three airings.

Are we going to put Live recording releases in contention?

Originally on Woj's list:

FROGG CAFE - THE SAFANZEE DIARIES
GENESIS - LIVE OVER EUROPE

There are more - I've never heard a restriction on that anyway.

OK...
I'll add a few and take yours, and Cozy's and edit them collated into Wojtek's original list unless he beats me to it.

Re: 2007 Poll Open!

It seems that most album additions come after the time for adding albums. But OK.. Of course if someone has the prog album not listed here on their list, I won't be doing any problems and will count it. I'm against having Cathedral on the list (as it doesn't met my criteria of prog, despite I'm really very tolerant when it comes to definition of modern prog compared to prog purists), but if you want to vote for such bands, you can include them unless the vote is dominated by non prog bands. Just try to sumbit prog rock vote, please. In fact I'm not worried at all as the votes I received so far are perfect in terms of poll character.
I'll take care of the list & poll myself as I prefer to have all under control (i.e to know what I have on the list, to check the release date). Therefore at the moment the help that would be vital is connected with poll promotion. If it is possible to announce the voting period somewhere on the main site and if AM comics are up for jingles, that would be great.

PS. Btw Vax can you change the year in poll forum description? :D Thanks in advance.

Rick, as usual I'm up for the replays in RS slots, so big thanks.
If you were to post your top, could you make it after the show? I think it would be great to discuss our votes, personal opinions on 2007 releases after the show. We're rather small community so the less votes we know before results, the bigger fun.

ok, I'll wait until you get the exact dates....

Did you want to have one airing then two repeats in my slots? Or two airings at your choice and one repeat? I think three times total would be plenty.

Yes, thanks about the posts. I should have said personal results after the airings and not when the polls close.

I think this has worked very well in last years. Premiere airing on Saturday, then two replays on Sunday and Monday in RS slots. If it can be like that this year, that will be great, thanks.

Are you aware that this is the Cathedral reunion album from the band that recorded the (supposedly) Anglagard inspired 1978 album "Stained Glass Stories"?

I honestly think it's a pretty disappointing effort, but if you've never heard Stained Glass Stories, you need to at least once. :)

ok sorry, when you wrote Cathedral, it made me think of the most popular band under the name of Cathedral, the doom rockers :winkies:
