Grobschnitt in Dortmund on June 26th

Well, I had to leave the AM Birthday party as a long scheduled event took place here in Dortmund: Grobschnitt gig!

The gig took place in the Signal Iduna Stadium, a football stadium where in summer they have movie events and use a part of the galery. Here you ccan see the screen: http://www.signal-iduna-park.de/?1A0A12709 In front of that screen they installed the stage.

Grobschnitt appeared 30 min late at 8:30 and played 2 hours 45 min without any pause.

Here is the line up:

Well, basically you can look on that link at the foto galery to have a visual impression of the show.

Well, the gig was as from another world. I have not seen something similar and so good before. I have seen excellent super excellent gigs, but they were different. Grobschnitt played some tunes I did never hear before, but played also Father Smith, (kind of) Rockpommels Land (chicken skin for 10 min with nearly tears in my eyes) etc., a 50 min Solar Music (nothing to do (or only 2%) with the classic that we know, but a mix of Jam and organized play) which got many of us in trance. Never in my life 2 hours and 45 min passed so quick, there was not one moment of weakness, they kept the tension all over the time. I am still a little in the hype due to this expirience, and I can not express it in words.

If they should come near to your place, go to see them. Unfortunatelly for the time being they are only gigging here in Germany..

Thanks Lotus. I guess we can excuse you from leaving the celebration.
Your review strengthens my desire to see them. Although I doubt they will ever come to the South in the USoA (seems very few good prog bands do).

Thanks for the review.
