Try again - Prog covers of Prog
 

I posted this and then the system crashed, so if you replied before, can you please post again as it's now gone.

What I am doing is compiling a list of prog artists that have covered other prog groups songs, like Rudeness doing Tarkus or Dream Theater doing Yes. It can't have any of the original members in it, (so a Hackett solo doing Genesis doesn't count).

What I'm really looking for is new versions that are really a tribute to the original artist. any suggestions are appreciated. Please provide the following:

Album it's on

OSI's "Set the controls for the heart of the sun" Floyd cover & Niacin's cover of KC's "Red" on Time Crunch. Zappa does Carlos Santana on "Shut Up & Play your Guitar. which is'nt really a cover, But interesting. lol Just Say No! (To Annie) LOL!

Book of hour is a swedish band in the vein of Anekdoten, they covered KING Crimson's one more red nightmare ( from the original RED LP) and VDGG's Scorched earth ( originally on their godbluf LP)

Steve Adams ( guitar player who troured with Peter Bardens) covered Lunar sea ( from Moonmadness LP) on his vertigo Cd back in 1999

Genesis Tribute album by Various Artists including Ripples by Annie Haslam.
Mike Keneally covers Time Table and Apocalypse in 9/8 on the After the Storm cd.

Ajalon covered Awaken at Rosfest last year....don't know if it's on an album.

Someone had mention Margaret Eir and her cover Senn (which is 'Soon' in her language) by Yes.

Fonya also has a cover of Gates of Delirium.

Peter Gabriels latest album was all cover (including Bowie's 'Heroes')
