Do you consider them prog?

Either way I love most of it, and he's (still) a great artist.

I think only Peter Gabtiel I. II and III can be considered prog'. I can't define therest of his albums, maybe eclectical could be the term, because has influence of Prog' POP and World music.

I really like most of his albums (except OVO) and don't care about the genre.

I consider Gabriel's solo efforts *very* progressive, but not necessarily in the sense that we usually use the label. I agree with most people that the first 3 albums slot in best with AM's style of music, but he's done a wonderful job, along with David Byrne and Paul Simon, of incorporating "world music" into Anglo-American music.

But anyone who lets his label subtitle his "hits" album "Sixteen Golden Greats" has issues somewhere. :)

Gabriel's earlier works are no more prog than So or Us. All have "accesible" tunes, and the first one has the goofy "Excuse Me".

I think Security is one the best albums ever made, and I don't give a hoot whether it's prog or not.

Actually I think Up (2002) is one of his more progressive albums, but then of course 'progressive' here doesn't denote the same things as it did in the 70s. Still, the songs are quite long, fairly complex (compared to 'straight' rock and pop), and they have that unique PG-signature that runs like a thread through all his works.

But it also has "Moribund the Burgermeister" which sounded like it could've ended up on the next Genesis album.
