Transatlantic

Hi!
any other Transatlantic fans here? Could you tell me what songs they played during Suite Charlotte Pike Medley - on Live in Europe 2CD? There is 15 mins jamming and I don't know what songs those are, and I'm curious to know? - did anyone see that Tilburg 12.11.2001 show - or has got his/her advance copy?

kind regards,

Jerklund:D :D :D

Welcome, and reply -

I have the two studio records, but not the live one. I could help if I heard it - I'm sure someone has.

Have to say the more I listen, the more disappointed I am with them - it's one of things where the whole is less than the sum of its parts. I also think the Roine Stolt/Neal Morse pairing is not entirely effective. They are both such dominant musicians and the mesh is not always there.

Am I being too critical? Please let me know.

Transatlantic - Live in Europe

Hi,
I wasn't too impressed neither when I was listening those 2 studio albums. I haven't heard demos - I guess they released them too?
But, this new live album changed my mind. Somehow those songs "flow" live much better. You can hear that Morse, Portnoy, Stolt and Trewavas are enjoying what they are doing.

I have to agree with you Rick. Sounds great as an idea but in practise it doesn't gell as well as it could/should. I've only got 'SMPTe' and even though I like it a lot it's not an album I reach for very often.

live

Jerklund - At Nearfest, they did play a blistering set. I agree with what you say about enjoyment - when a band is into it, the results really show. the only issue I had was Portnoy's 3 year-old being on stage with headphones on - that's just unnecessary.

One of those medley tunes was probably a Beatles tune.

Keith - what do you think of the Procol Harum cover on that record ? And, I really like the British "s" in place of the American "c" (as in the word "practise"). We need that over here.

I have to agree with the general theme here - I don't dislike Transatlantic, but I am disappointed with them. And I have difficulty in listening to more than one song in a row - seems like a lot of rehashing of similar ideas. The strength is in the jamming portions of the songs, so it makes sense that the live album would be better.
