Inaugural (or In-aural) show 9/26/04
For the first show, I will be playing a cross-section of the themes for the show. The themes are again:
1 New music added to the Moon
2 Tweeners
3 Classics
4 Artist highlights
5 Specials
6 Heavy!
7 Requests
8 Fusion/jazz
9 Full-length CD's
10 All other (stuff I want to play)
Most likely, there will be no voice for this show, so I've added comments below. Listing is by artist, title, CD.
1) Echolyn
Meaning and the Moment
Echolyn
This will be the first artist spotlight, in a few weeks.
2) Happy Rhodes
Collective Heart
Building The Colossus
A favorite of mine..she sings ALL of the vocal parts.
3) Minimum Vital
Sarabande n0i and n0ii
Sarabandes
Had to get some Euro prog in here somewhere. Great stuff.
4) Sylvan
Given-Used-Forgotten
X-Rayed
Exciting Neo band...will be at Rosfest 2005 (order now!)
5) Jack Foster III
Feel It When I Sting
Evolution of Jazzraptor
Thought I'd put this in as a "request".
6) Dada
Ask The Dust
American Highway Flower
A true "tweener"!
7) Joe Jackson
Forty Years
Big World
Something to mellow to...lyrics make you think.
8) National Health Clocks & Clouds Missing Pieces
Actually only heard this song last month...what a tune.
9) Frank Gambale
The Great Explorers
The Great Explorers
One of the finest fusion CD's I have heard.
10) Discipline
Mickey Mouse Man
Progday '98
The boys rock out on a song not on their studio CD's, after a full set in 100 degree heat (and believe me it was HOT!).
11) Iron Maiden
Seventh Son of A Seventh Son
Seventh Son of A Seventh Son
This is what you should expect from the heavy shows. All of the trappings of prog - long tune, distinct sections, amazing musicianship, power ending. But not recognized as such. This song truly kicks serious ass.
12) Jethro Tull
Scenario/Audition/No Rehearsal
Nightcap
Off the "Chateau D'Isaster" tapes of the Passion Play recordings, this stands up (pardon the pun!) to any Tull. Similar to the versions (if not identical) to the 20th anniversary CD version.
13) Kenso
Alfama
Yume No Oka
A new addition to the Moon, and a Nearfest 2005 band. Looking forward to hearing this one. Thanks to Jim!
14) It Bites
Old Man And The Angel
Most of the It Bites is new to the Moon, but an old favorite. A tip of the glass to Keith for this one!
15) Bon (Lozaga)
So Far Away
Full Circle (Coming Home)
This song is smooth as a baby's bottom.
16) Deep Purple
Rat Bat Blue
Who Do You Think We Are
My tip of the cap to a "classic" band. Look for shows of this stuff only. Jon Lord goes to town here.
17) Flower Kings
Serious Dreamers
Rainmaker
A peaceful protest to the recent angst caused by you know who. Speaking of keyboardists, Mr. Bodin shines in this one.
and
FM
Black Noise
1) Phasors on Stun
2) One O'Clock Tomorrow
3) Hours
4) Journey
5) Dialing For Dharma
6) Slaughter In Robot Village
7) Aldeberan
8) Black Noise
Mixing prog, pop, and ambient elements, this CD is still one of my favorites.
Comments are always welcome....I hope you all can listen. Tell the neighbors, friends, casual acquant... even enemies...... if they can play "Let's Dance" to drive the Panamanian dictator out, you can play this too!
