Here's the first of two shows dedicated to (a) playing songs with "spring" in the title, and (b) cleaning out a few things I've been looking to get on.
Spring:
Cast - A Blossom In The Spring
Gerard - Aqua Dream Part II - Spring Tide
Fred Frith - Spring Any Day Now
Ozric Tentacles - Toltec Spring
Galleon - Fall of Spring
Solstice - Return of Spring
Bruford - Springtime In Siberia
Cleaning:
Sylvan - Artificial Paradise
Here's a preview of my Rosfest show, from a band that will be playing there this year. This 2002 release is very melodic, I guess you can call it neo. Subtle and brilliant writing, it also packs a lot of emotion. Seventy minutes of beautiful music. The title cut clocks in at 20 minutes itself.
Deep Inside
That's Why It Hurts
Strange Emotion
Human Apologies
Timeless Traces
I Still Believe
Around The World
Souveniers
Artifical Paradise
Hidria Spacefolk - Live Eleven am
Now for something completely different, a man with three buttocks. Seriously, it's a good contrast to the Sylvan. Did not delay in scooping up this recording of their 2004 Nearfest appearance. The 11am Sunday slot has had some nice acts over the six years of Nearfest. Usually it's a crowd-waker. The year prior Sleepytime Gorilla Museum woke the crowd up.
Had a chance to chat with these guys at some length during the Strawbs performance (after they were asked to leave the theater

). Nice guys. Some say their stuff is better than Ozrics, but even though I like Ozrics better than almost all other bands, I am loath to make comparisons.
The first tune is a combination of the names of our two cats (Koko and Kola)

The band was very surprised by the response from the crowd, and very pleased. As with Ozrics, the rhythm section carries the music, and their drummer is a beast.

Hope the weather breaks soon, and look for part two next week!
