As for the breaking the Genesis in part, I'll take your word for it, I was about 8-10 years old. However, given the ass backwards attitude towards anything that didn't "rock, dude" in Baltimore, you deserve a medal!
As much as I bought from Record and Tape Trader, the best experience I had in a store was hearing Gamalon in the now defunct Record Theatre on Liberty Road. They had those little postage stamp tickets to collect (of course R&TT had the member cards too

I think my most harrowing experience in a record store was in College Park, where I switched a $4.99 copy of Free Hand with the $.99 copy and almost got caught.. he played the record and stared at me the whole time..I don't make a good criminal I guess).
Watch out at work...you don't want to be billing an Eskimo for air conditiong!
