Re: Siddhartha

To make things even more complcated I discovered there's a German band called Siddhartha formed in 1973 and released an album called Weltsmertz - they are also proggers - symphonic rock. "They performed an intelligent mixture of progressive and art rock influenced by psychedelia and folk. Although their 1975 album is called Weltschmerz, all songs contain English lyrics except 'Weit Weg'." "Siddhartha has an unusual style, with strong nods in a Pink Floyd cosmic direction, yet featuring violin, almost punky song writing along with symphonic and folky instrumental touches" The German band is still on CD.

I've downloaded the Turkey band and put it into AAC but with extra bass. I have no experience with wma - a format I stay clear of. But looking for a cover I stumbled over it in a listing

" Wrapped somewhere in the Porcupine Tree / Pink Floyd school or space prog lies Siddhartha blending instrumentation into some of the most delicious jams you have ever heard. Siddhartha blend Gilmour'esque electric guitar over symphonic landscape with some incredible bass and percussive moments. This album if full of major mood swings from very serene and tranquil moments to the all out blitzkrieg jam sessions. Vocals are convincingly sung in english and in fact carry a certain "spaceyness" to them which fits the music quite well. Instrumentation is deep with some great warm sounds for your speakers. Siddhartha is full of surprises and each songs carries its own colors and characteristics always sounding highly original. This is an essential recording and will absolutely remain a classic in this household..."

That homepage is full of progressive rock - worth having a look at.
