Show 96 - Yorksrvc's picks

Remember that over the hill, silly, goofball from Baltimore? No, not me, the other guy. Yeah, Rob Grant. Him. He's got some interesting music he dabbles in, and I thought I'd play a few of his songs, along with some great music he's turned me on to.

World Merge - Rob Grant

Rob's not really comfortable with the version, it's unfinished (like his myspace name Aged WIP...). But I think it sounds like Floyd's "One of these Days" and it sounds cool enough.

Pallas - The Dreams of Men

The Bringer of Dreams
Warriors
Gostdancers
Too Close To the Sun
Messiah
Northern Star
Mr. Wolfe
Invincible
The Last Angel

All 73:08 of it. I've seen them at Rosfest and Nearfest, but never bought any of their records. But Rob ordered me to listen to this one, and I have to say I'm quite taken by this 2005 release. They played about 7 of these songs at Rosfest last year. Love the strong Rickenbacker bass.

Rob Grant - Conan and the Sharc

Heavily guitared tribute to our friend Sharcnorris. A pair of jokers, I'd say. Crunchy song.

Believe - Hope To See Another Day

From 2004, this is Mirek Gil's band (the guitarist from Satellite). Heavy in spots, sometimes reminiscent of STP, but overall quite prog, with a newer feel (released 2004). Another York recommendation, I like it a lot, and I think a lot of you will also.

What Is Love
Needles In My Brain
Liar
Pain
Seven Days
Coming Down
Don't Tell Me
Hope To See Another Day

Tantalus - Footprints

A fun song recommended...

Rob Grant - New Moon

This one is strange....according to Rob, the barely audible vocal references ric b and refers to me as "Red headed friend rick"....glad I'm a good sport. I was going to play his first mix, but has since re-recorded it with the talented Andyyyyy Kubicki. I will try to play that version. Speaking of which, I need to compile some of his songs, he's quite a musician.

Odyssice

In Your Eyes
Scream
Losing Her

A Dutch band, here's three instrumentals that Rob turned me on to. Some good music.

Hope you enjoy the show, a little something different for you this time!
