How about some
Lisa Germano on the moon? Her music isn't symphonic, nor epic - but anyway highly unusual, and IMHO progressive in its own right. The music is difficult to describe - from the songwriting perspective, sort of late Kate Bush, but more minimalistic, and somewhat weirder.
