My $0.02. Tom Gagliardi is clearly an icon in the prog world.

Precisely!

It's called recording.

I know! Both Roger Lee and I sit up Saturday evenings baby-sitting the retransmission and recording of Tom's four hour time slot so that AM can bring this informative show to you with our Tuesday replay. I could be going other -- less altruistic -- things like sleeping but I feel it's important to get this informative show on the air to as many who will listen as possible.
The commercials (public service announcements), and I've tried to explain this before, are required by FCC. I'll take a public service announcement any day over the loud
in-your-face advertising of most commercial radio. I know our listeners in the "not-so-free world" can't understand this because they've been force to pay tax on their airwaves to listen to programming. Here
in the land of the de-fray and the home of deprave, we have a different model. I'd wager that BCC/WBZC would gladly accept money to buy license and keep the public service announcements out of the broadcast. However, you people grouse about $50/year for 128K stream access, so I'm not going to bother suggesting you remunerate for
public service free Gagliarchives.
Some don't like the talking/interviews. If that was the case, it would just be like the other shows here. I like hearing from some of the musicians Tom has interviewed. There are, of course, some I don't but that's life -- you get the good with the bad without much choice. Tom also gets guests in the studio and often they will performing live. I've been there for some of these live bits too. It's too bad too that the Gagliarchives return to AM was one week after the Radio Massacre International (RMI) performance in Tom's studio. AM listeners that enjoy electronica a la Tangerine Dream would have truly enjoyed this broadcast. I enjoyed it live in the studio!
Lest you forget as well, Tom mentions AM on his show. It's done much, IMHO, for the stature for AM in the prog community.
Tom's show is reminiscent of the heyday of Art/Progressive rock radio too. He does proud the likes of
Ed Sciaky,
Helen Leight,
Michael Tearson and others on the then -- not now -- WMMR, WYSP, WIOQ and other radio stations from the Philly airspace as well as WSAN in Allentown, PA where the likes of
Larry Fast himself used to DJ!
PS. I've been reading the poll results and I am appalled at the negativity toward this show. Even more unsettling to me are the names of those who have negatively tainted the poll!
