This pops up from time to time, and I always say the same thing. As always, this is only my opinion and it matters little to me if it's not the prevailing view, and if you want to keep bandying it back and forth it should at the very least make for good reading...

Music should not have a hall of fame. This isn't sports, where it has at least some measurable stastic. Sure, the halls of fame in sports have some subjectivity to it, but it presumes a contest or competitive endeavor.

Music is not a competitive endeavor. It is pleasure. Does it matter if Yes or any other band is in a hall of fame?

Let U2 be "the most important band of our generation". We all know the greatness of Yes. Do we need it validated like this? Now there's a progressive hall of fame.

Sigh...

Not to crack on anyone...not my intent - I just see no reason to have a hall of fame for musicians.
