airing Sunday, July 20 from 8-11 PM EST and Monday, July 21 from 1-4 PM EST
This week we have Quidam's "Alone Together", one of the outstanding releases from last year, and a song from Progday 2001, as a teaser for next week's show. And, a song from Magenta's 2008 release "Metamorphosis".
But first, a brand new release from the Gentle Giant "Collective" (I do feel assimilated!). Executive Producer Andy Kubicki (that's Andyyyyy to us) sent this to me:
GORGG-Tribe - A Reflection - Yet More Music Inspired By and In Tribute to Gentle Giant (2008)
Dan Bornemark - Playing the Boys
Tomas Stark - Wood Nymphs
Bach & Leonard Overdrive - Four Doors
Blissful Behemoth - Giantessence
Adam Levin - Fanfare
Eric Baumgartner - Echoes of Portsmouth
Zed - Off Bass
Glenn Lilljeblad, Andy Kubicki & Friends - Preludia
Ant Bowles - Chalk Farm
Glenn Lilljeblad, Andy Kubicki & Friends - Islandia
Alan Benjamin - We're Not Home (extended version)
Dan Bornemark - Attitudes and Lonelitudes
John Eyre - The Rose
Adam Levin - House On A Hill
The Tyler Administration - Allegro Assi
Ant Bowles - Test 5.5
Blissful Behemoth - Giantology
J'Art - Libertee
J'Art - Naissance
Blissful Behemoth - Still As Young As I'm Old
Alan Benjamin - We're Not Home
Wow that was something to type. Another outstanding effort from these guys:

I wish I could include all of the liner notes and information - it's a lot of fun to follow it along and read just how Gentle Giant has impacted each artist. One of the (many) benefits of being on Aural Moon is seeing the camradarie from a group music effort come to fruition. Friends of the Moon such as Frank Martens (Prickly) and Hanspeter Hess (The Healing Road) have become friends as a result of their vision and dedication with the Bearded Project. Andy had opened up a whole new set of doors with his collaborations.
At some point, I will do a full review but some observations:
Andy and Glenn's Preludia/Islandia is a masterful piece. One of the "friends" is Rob Grant (Yorksvc) on bass. The piano by Tomas Stark on it is wonderful.
The Rose is a nine-minute romp in a very British style. Imagine Peter Gabriel singing about an obsession with a young lady.
Alan Benjamin's pieces are a total of one minute, and is his answering machine message from some time ago. That's one of many examples of humor sprinkled in throughout.
There's some atypical fare (compared to the other GORGG releases), such as live music from 1978 (J'Art playing in Quebec), and "Allegro Assi", featuring amazing bass work.
I'll let Andy fill in the blanks before my fingers fall off!
The Muffins - East of Diamond - from the "Progday 2001 CD"
Baltimore resident and all around good egg Paul Sears spent some quality time drumming for the Muffins..here's a sample. I wish the other two bands on Disc 1 were to my liking.....but fortunately there is a disc Two, which I'll play next week.
Magenta - The Ballad of Samuel Layne - from "Metamorphosis" (2008)
Twenty minute track from the last release, to my ears a return to form.
Quidam - Alone Together (2007)
Different
Kinds of Solitude At Night
Depicting Colours of Emotions
They Are There To Remind Us
Of Illusions
We Lost
One Day We Find
We Are Alone Together
...But Strong Together
A big top of the cap to Wojtek for compiling this band as part of his end of year Moon Poll show. About the only thing I'm slow on is getting around to listening to music, so it's only now I bought this CD. It's excellent. Not as heavy as countrymen Riverside but does not lack for power.
I don't usually post review links, but among these, you'll get a good sense of the disc.

Next week is the aforementioned Progday 2001 Disc 2, local guitar wizard Pete Laramee, and some newer not-so-well-known bands that a friend has led me to...
