quick review

not much time....

saw them on the 12th (and Stan is there tonight )..

very impressed with Nektar. I saw them at Nearfest but was way in the back, and also not familiar with them at all. I was real close this time and loved it. They did a song called "Dream Nebula" that Roye described as "never had been played on tour in the States" - it was off their first record, and was magnificent. They closed w/ Recycled and did the Future tune of course (only part one). Their drummer is excellent. He's a bit up there, and conserves energy. But he's like Neil Peart where he gets a lot of power efficiently. I was damn impressed.

They did a newer song that Roye said was off an album that was "a national secret in Europe"

Caravan did a song inspired by an incident at breakfast at Nearfest. I was going to ask Richard Coughlin and Pye Hastings after the show for an explanation (they were accessible), but I chickened out and had to say bye to my friends and had a long drive home. Aaah opportunities lost). The keyboardist (not Sinclair, think he was Scandinavian?) was awesome. They closed with Nine Feet Underground, was spectacular. there was less of Leverton and more of Richardson, and he was awesome. And Pye Hastings was in great form, and the band really rocked out in spots.

All in all what a time.....andI got an appreciation for Nektar I did not have.
